Mini-Map Not Working

My brother has a problem with his mini-map. It doesn't show the terrain, the units, or anything else. It looks likes it's part of the interface (has a wooden background). He has windows 7. It's a legit copy of the game; he didn't have this problem until he switched to Windows 7. I haven't been able to find any solutions. Please help!

Mine is just grey, then I tried re installing it and now it doesn't even work =\
