Bleubeard 1 #1 Posted December 11, 2011 I've been playing a lot in the 24/7 Dustbowl servers (east, texas, nj) and there is one recurring issue that is really starting to bug me. AFKs. Players will be sitting in spawn for what seems like hours. Votekicking is a waste of time, I can never get anyone else to vote (probably f2p noobs that don't even know to press 'y'). These AFKs are robbing from the team and hogging spots on the server. Spots that could potentially be new Lotus donors. I'm not saying to auto kick players immediately (give the traders a little grace period maybe) but I suggest implementing some kind of AFK time limit. Please. I never see any admins in these servers so people give us something better than votekick.
Nano 7,892 #2 Posted December 12, 2011 Whenever I have initiated a votekick for AFK on any lotus server, it has never failed. That being said, it's annoying when 3 people are AFK and you can't kick them all at once, but have a cooldown between each kick...
Harlequin 2,975 #3 Posted December 13, 2011 "but have a cooldown between each kick..." suggestion: why not remove the cooldown if a "votekick" was successfull, but on the other hand block a next vote for about 10 minutes (or whatever, just increased) when "vote" failed by the initiator? (should not matter what kind of vote succeeds or failed)
Gotcha 6,307 #4 Posted December 13, 2011 why not remove the cooldown if a "votekick" was successfull, but on the other hand block a next vote for about 10 minutes You wouldn't believe how many raging idiots start votekicks for afk while the guy is actually playing, and the vote ends 'successful'.
Nano 7,892 #5 Posted December 13, 2011 As long as it's not a ban couldn't someone just rejoin?
Bleubeard 1 #6 Posted December 24, 2011 So I just got randomed into another lotusclan server which i dont normally play. 24/7 goldrush texas. Joined team that had 4 AFKs just chillin in spawn. You guy's have got to be kidding. The server's promote submitting ideas to make the servers better. This is a legitimate issue with a reasonable fix. As long as it's not a ban couldn't someone just rejoin? Exactly, if they arent really afk, just rejoin. Big deal. If server admins are not present then the players should have a right to a democracy. Just unfortunately it seems to be asking too much from these F2Ps to votekick an afk. How about just auto/timelimit kick the afk players to spec? Barbaro 466 #7 Posted December 28, 2011 Wasn't there an AFK kicker before? This needs to be looked into, hard enough as it is losing games and duels due to AFK morons who seem to never be kicked. Voting rarely works, I'm not sure what keeps people from typing in votekick.

Mana 3,867 #9 Posted January 4, 2012 There is an autokick system in place. And it doesn't take hours to kick someone. First they get moved to spec then kicked. I could probably adjust it to become more aggressive once the server is near full.

I think its aggressive enough already, I always seem to get kicked after only like 15 minutes of afk ...not that i do it often or anything...
l-TW-l Wage 4 #11 Posted January 4, 2012 Please look into making the AFK kicker more aggressive during full server conditions. 15 minutes is a ridiculous amount of time for most people to be AFK while logged into a game. Need to go eat? Log off or go Engi!

Need to go eat? Log off or go Engi! It was aggressive before for years actually. But some of the recent changes I made caused the settings to get lost. I will be fixing this.
