Alex Soulbane 13 #1 Posted March 14, 2012 Hey guys, Whenever I join a Lotus server, my TF2 just crashes, forcing me to turn off my entire PC. Whenever I join a non-Lotus server, this is not the case. I come into the server, I hear some repeating sounds, and then I get a black screen, with occasionally this error: The instruction at 0x(randomnumbers) at 0x(another set of random numbers) could not be read. What I've tried: Validating game cache Defragmentating cache files Reinstall Team Fortress 2 Reinstall Steam Deleted clientregistry.blob and in C:/programfiles/steam/steamapps/jeroenzand deleted the TF2 folder. Help?
Nano 7,892 #2 Posted March 14, 2012 It sounds like you have a script with a "wait" command in it. I'd go through all your scripts and remove the one with that. The wait command is disabled on lotus servers, the side effect being that when the client tries to run the script and the server goes "fuck no" the server wins and your client shits the bed
Kerberos 3,170 #3 Posted March 15, 2012 Is that error code a BSOD? If it is your problem is probably hardware related RAM or HDD. Sounds like it... Only way i could get rid of my BSOD is re-installing Win-7.
Alex Soulbane 13 #4 Posted March 15, 2012 Hey there, I'm just the avarage TF2 player, I don't know that much 'bout scripts and stuff, haven't tampered with those or anything. It worked just fine last week, but I should just reinstall Windows XP?
Kerberos 3,170 #5 Posted March 15, 2012 God no... That is not what I am saying But if you were, you may want to consider bumping up to windows 7. Honestly I have no idea how to fix it ^.^

Alex Soulbane 13 #7 Posted March 15, 2012 God no... That is not what I am saying But if you were, you may want to consider bumping up to windows 7. Honestly I have no idea how to fix it ^.^ I can't, my PC does not support windows 7 drivers. As for the specs, how do I check those? I could look 'em all up inside my pc, but that's so much work
Nano 7,892 #8 Posted March 15, 2012 Windows Logo + BREAK key will pull up your specs. We aren't going to continue to walk you through stuff you can easily Google . Try searching google for your answer first. Back up all your important files to something else. Then you can mess around all you want. Worse case scenario you just have to reinstall Windows XP, but maybe you will learn something in the process.

Cool.Try running Microsoft Update and ensure no critical/High Priority Files need to be installed. After that visit this site. http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers I went ahead and found your product, make sure you've selected Home Edition. I'm going to go forth and assume you have every Driver, try taking a look at the BIOS download. If its hardware related, this may be able to help solve and fix some more hidden issues, try downloading and running it, if it says BIOS version is already updated/Not Compatible, then something somewhere isn't working properly. After that, I see you have Intel? http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ Visit there and run the Intel Driver Utility. Sometimes, Intel will make updates for specific models that Microsoft will not upload, thus you'll get newer, more fine tuned software and upgrades. Since TF2 *And Source* Is very dependant on Processor and Video, we'll want to cross out any Processor issues. After that's done, determine if your Video Card's Software is up-to-date. There may be one in Microsoft Update but for NIVIDA or ATI, there can be newer ones that will not be uploaded. To determine this, go to Control Panel, Device Manager, Display Drivers (Or Video Card for some). You'll find the details by right clicking to Properties, then clicking the Drivers tab. What is displayed there should match/reflect whatever company you're with's most up-to-date Driver. If you're unsure, note the device then search for it and download it from the vendor's site. After all this is said and done, try running both a Disk Cleanup and a Disk Defrag, then launching TF2 again. To find the problem, you have to start with the basics. Hope this helps.
Alex Soulbane 13 #11 Posted March 17, 2012 Thank you Ajju, but sadly, it still just crashes. Can it be a problem with me and Lotus? Because I can join non-Lotus servers just fine :S Or just reinstall windows?
Barbaro 466 #12 Posted March 19, 2012 Thank you Ajju, but sadly, it still just crashes. Can it be a problem with me and Lotus? Because I can join non-Lotus servers just fine :S Or just reinstall windows? Could be due to the sv settings. Are you certain you tried all the steps? Don't ignore them simply because you may think its not related. You'd be surprised at how many things can go wrong. Especially with Windows. Reinstalling is a waste of time and should only be used as a 'last' resort. If your Disc is corrupted or have a corrupted copy in your HDD built in, I can provide you with one with a simple request via PM. (Not Illegally, there is a legitimate way but not open to the public.) Lucky for you, I love Lotus. Let me know what's up. Sorry I've been gone, Full Time job is killing meh. Alex Soulbane 13 #13 Posted March 19, 2012 I've done EVERYTHING to get it working again, but still nothing. Reinstalling is a waste of time and should only be used as a 'last' resort. (Not Illegally, there is a legitimate way but not open to the public.) Lucky for you, I love Lotus. Don't understand what you're saying there, but if it helps fixing my TF2, I'd like to have it
Alex Soulbane 13 #14 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) So, yesterday, I did what you sent me. I reinstalled, reinstalled drivers, started TF2 and it worked. This morning, I wake up, try playing again, and it crashes... again. Tried updating everything, do the exact same steps again, but still that damn error. Should I just get a new video card / computer? P.S: it's even crashing now on other Non-Lotus dustbowl servers :| Edited March 21, 2012 by Alex Soulbane
Alex Soulbane 13 #15 Posted March 21, 2012 No, it is not a BSOD. I could try if I can get a vid of what I'm getting as error... not sure if that's gonna work though. But for sure, it's not a blue screen of death.
Alex Soulbane 13 #16 Posted March 22, 2012 Oh my god. You sir, are a legend -- no, a god. That disable HTML worked and now it runs just fine. I hail you.
Barbaro 466 #17 Posted March 22, 2012 You can also just get a screencap of the error message. Just hit Print Screen and then open paint and ctrl+v it there. Then save the image and post it here. Also you could try going to the advanced settings and turn off HTML motds. Is this a problem that's isolated on Lotus servers?I've never seen that before. o_o Good to hear you got it fixed Alex. Alex Soulbane 13 #18 Posted March 23, 2012 Is this a problem that's isolated on Lotus servers? I've never seen that before. o_o Good to hear you got it fixed Alex. First it was, but after you gave me that link I also got the problem on the Skial server. (both Dustbowl, but also crashed outside dustbowl)
