Chippy Smile 0 #1 Posted March 16, 2012 I've noticed that plenty of users on the Chicago 2Fort server aren't abiding by the global Steam rules as listed on the following link: http://store.steampo...online_conduct/ I was offended over conduct where I thought my rights to identify as a female were infringed, and was trying to defend these rights. It got me muted. This is of course sexual discrimination. I thought that I should approach the Lotus Clan forums first, because I wouldn't want to get Lotus Clan in trouble if they can handle their own problems. There seriously needs to be some rules against trolling that extends beyond non-serious trash talking, as is common in games. Attached is an example of a part of the conversation where they were trying to say that trolling was fine. Sorry for using an offensive word as an example of how offended I felt. What I basically want done is official rulings against this kind of behavior. Remember, if a server does not honor the global Steam rules, it can be removed from all official listings. Willerms 1,794 #2 Posted March 17, 2012 So these offenders were making sexist remarks? If you post names/steam IDs, we can see the chatlogs. Lotus servers do allow freedom of speech, I may say.
Chippy Smile 0 #3 Posted March 17, 2012 SuYo1141 was a major one. I took it a bit too far, but the point remains that I was very offended. He's really the only major offender who will have a chatlog. Also, I did do some unbecoming trivia just to pass the time, so I may have been pushing my luck. Most of them used voice chat. Also, to prevent further trolling, you need to post somewhere in the servers about abiding by the global Steam rules of conduct, and if someone believes you are trolling them too far in the chatbox or voice chat, to stop. +Cactus 4,948 #4 Posted March 17, 2012 The log: http://stats.lotusclan.com/player_histories/chat/2766635 I have to say that I was expecting the language to be worse - no offence, but this is quite mild compared to some of the stuff I've seen. Will leave any decisions up to the "higher" admins as this was not on the server I cover. Here is the relevant line from the link she provided: STEAMâ„¢ ONLINE CONDUCT As a Steam subscriber you agree to abide by the following conduct rules. You will not: Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.

Key word is "SUBSCRIBER" not "PROVIDER" Lotus is not in any way liable for the actions of those who use it's services. If you have a problem you will have to go to Steam and let them know you are being harassed on the internet. I'm sure they will devote loads of time and resources to track down an internet troll so you don't have to grow up and realize not everyone in the world is going to pamper you because you have a vagina. Welcome to the internet, enjoy your stay.

Barbaro 466 #7 Posted March 19, 2012 If you want you could also take a screenshot and I think its F7, to report the users to Steam Customer Support via in-game. I don't like blubber nuts more than you do but if you played often enough, you'd know that's a normal thing around here. You'll get used to it.... Mana 3,867 #8 Posted March 19, 2012 Remember, if a server does not honor the global Steam rules, it can be removed from all official listings. Lying won't help you here. Valve does not require us (or any other server admins or communities) to enforce their code of conduct. If you think someone is breaking Steam rules report them to Valve. If they are truly breaking Steam rules then they will be reprimanded everywhere, not just on certain servers . To report a player: Go to the user's Steam Community profile Use the "Report Violation" button in the top right of the page Add a description, and hit "Submit" To reach a user's Steam Community profile while in-game: Press shift+tab (by default) to bring up the Steam Overlay In the Friends panel on the left, click "View Players" Find the offending player under the appropriate tab and click "Profile"

BabyEater 5 #10 Posted April 3, 2012 As Mana said, there is a Valve Reporter. If they broke Steam rules they should be reported to Steam and/or Valve. On another note, if they broke Lotus server rules then you would report them in the player complaint section. Due to the fact that Lotus allows players to speak freely, if you were muted then depending on the reason why; the most you could do is report the guy who muted you for donor abuse. But seeing as how you used uncensored racism as a reference in chat whoever did mute you could just use that as their reason and wouldn't be punished anyways.
