Nameless Pete 0 #1 Posted August 26, 2012 I recently got out of a game on Badwater with three AFKs on my team. The !votekick system was apparently beyond the ken of the other players, so it sat there uselessly with a single nomination. I see this sort of thing all the time on your servers. Why is the Valve standard voting disabled? Because I have basically never seen a vote actually go through, even against blatant cheaters. Simplify the process, lower or eliminate the threshhold for number of nominations needed to call a vote, something. I hate trying to find a server, checking the game information, and finding a player with 0 points who's been on for over two hours (also, you need some sort of idle-kicker). Because when anyone can start a vote we get far too many unban requests and complaints. So we have a prevote system in place... and we still have too many complaints about people abusing the vote system (the vote percentage has also been increased multiple times).
Banshee 236 #3 Posted August 26, 2012 I personally don't care for people who are afk. If your team doesn't feel the need to kick the people, i don't see how that's much of a problem with Lotus. It's the whole teams choice, not just one persons. Also, i have played on every Lotus server, and i always see voting be passed. It doesn't change the game experience all that much to be honest Though other lotus member/recruits have their own views and opinions.

If 3 people are afk, and you're up to 12 people versus the 9 in your own team, those 3 people can make a difference. Especially if they're a medic, engineer, etc at a critical position. Even if they were rocking the game, afk = being kicked. I always kick people who are afk unless they told us they would be. I usually see a voting pass too, but depends. If you're a donor, you can easily initiate a votekick as opposed to a non-donor. Also makes a difference finding other people willing to votekick.
Nano 7,892 #5 Posted August 26, 2012 Unless it's been removed in the last month, Mana did institute an idle kicker a few months back. After a set amount of time (a few minutes) of idle in spawn it kicks to spectate then after a few more minutes of inactivity kicks you out of the server. - Mike - 2,728 #6 Posted August 26, 2012 I purposely have 3 idle accounts that go afk on my team to give the other team a handicap.
Harlequin 2,975 #7 Posted August 26, 2012 btw, auto-kick idle system is active. Problems are only if the idlers do some weird stuff like keep shooting / circle / walk or something. But if they don't move, they'll be kicked by console.
