Abusing The 'votekick' Feature

It's hard to play spy when this happens:

After I was successfully kicked for being a "fucking faggot", I was then banned a few minutes later for the same reason. I don't know why players have to do this just to end the round sooner.

To clarify, I was NOT stalling. They were just extremely impatient.

This really doesn't prove anything but that a votekick was started. How is that abuse? Now if there were logs along with your claim. Then it might be a different story. If you would like us to take action please provide us with more i.e demo,logs...somthing other than a screen shot. Have a nice day.

The screenshot does show that the ban was for "fucking faggot", that doesn't seem like a very legitimate reason, but that just makes me wonder all the more what did you do to piss off enough people that they were willing to ban you for no "good" reason?

I definitely feel like there is more to the story here.

Sorry I couldn't make a detailed report before, had to get off for work.

To summarize what happened, I joined the arena server when it was quite crowded and noticed, in which seemed to be, a large group of players (probably friends) doing things like heavy-only rounds. They didn't take it very lightly when I refused to follow their 'rule', so some of them started throwing rude remarks at me. After a few more rounds, this progressed into threats of votekicking me, and then actual votekicks. And next thing you know, I was banned. This is why the vote system bothers me, because players in the large groups have the ability to kick/ban anyone they desire, which in this case, was me.

The server is great don't get me wrong, I just think something needs to be done about this.

the kind of play you describe often happens in servers with large groups of friends, or regular players on said server, if you join a game and its obvious they are playing fun/theme rounds such as only spy, only medic, only combat engys... maybe instead of ruining the fun of the group that was there before you, you can

A. go to a different server

B. join in the fun, and play by the current "rules" that others are having fun playing with

we had a similar fun night one night on the goldrush server when all the regulars were on, its actually demod and posted on here from a while back, wild fun night, and we votekicked a few people who refused to play along.

Some people decide they all want to play some class/melee only/be friendly (as in just sit in a place wanking) and I wouldn't have any of it. Call me try hard, no fun, whatever you want, but I think everyone has the right to play the game as it was intended to be played/choose the class he/she wants and kill the shit out of anyone even if said "anyone" is being friendly.

all I'm saying is, if he is outnumbered and he gets votekicked, best of luck getting them banned for it, he was ruining the fun of 20 people, there are thousands of other servers he coulda switched to, if he didn't like how they were playing and didn't want to join the fun

I disagree, the sole purpose of the votekick/ban feature is to help players moderate others whose sole intention is to disrupt normal gameplay. Coming up with a set of arbitrary rules on a server they don't own, then applying punishments to those who join and don't follow isn't why the system is in place.

I've applied a temp ban on the individual who started the votekick, hopefully this will serve as a warning to others on the server that randomly kicking people for not following their made up rules isn't appropriate or tolerated.

I'll also be spending some more time in the Arena server over the next couple of weeks since the number of complaints have risen sharply.

I have to agree with Se7en.Why should i switch to another server ,get kicked or banned just because i play folowing the rules of the game,kill as many as you can and capture the intel or the CP.
