JoinedSenses 559 #1 Posted September 16, 2012 Long story short, I ended up installing Ubuntu on my laptop (previously windows xp). I use my laptop to network my gaming computer for internet access [Laptop is wireless, PC is wired]. My PC has Windows 7 installed. Currently having trouble setting up Internet Connection Sharing from my laptop to my PC, even after following a few walkthroughs online. PC doesn't connect at all to my linux laptop. Im also having trouble installing updates to my outdated version, with an error returned that I could not download from repository indexes. Sub error: Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz Basically, if I can't figure this out what the problem is soon, I wont be able to attend the Sunday EU community game. Also, I'm bored as shit with no internet on my PC. If it comes down to it, I'd just end up having to buy a 100ft ethernet cable to connect to the router. Edit: Update trouble is due to my current version being unsupported and download directories have been moved. Downloading and installing the latest version at the moment. Perhaps this will help with my internet connection sharing.

JoinedSenses 559 #5 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) Ubuntu v12.04.1 is now installed. Wired connetion doesn't seem to connect. PC gives the error of DNS problem, but laptop sharing settings probably arent setup correctly. This is the connection between my PC and the laptop. Not sure what the network settings need to be for both wired and wireless. :/ Edit: Figured it out. Left wireless settings at default. Set wired settings to 'share with other computers' in IPv4 settings and forced it to automatically use those settings by checking the box at the bottom.
