The Auto Kick Time On East X33 Is Way Too Short.

I don't know why the auto kick got shortened so much, but it borders on silly right now. I got kicked to spectator before my re-spawn counter was done counting down. I am pretty sure switching to spectator shakes off dominations, so that would look pretty cheap to others.

Yes I got this fixed, except for the fix to propagate the server needs to reload map. Once that happens it will be better :).

Is this referring to actually being kicked to spec during respawn or getting a warning?

I got kicked to spectate when I died towards the end of a round and the combined time I was dead and the time it took for the new round to start was long enough to kick me in to spectate mode. But as Mana said this should be fixed.

Ah, okay. On the server I play on, you'll sometimes get a 30 second warning when you respawn.

After playing today it is still way too short. The warning message already starts during the respawn time and you basically have to move immediately after respawning to avoid the kick to spectate. That's no good because some times you are trying to adjust a load-out or talking in chat about something important. Heaven for bid you shift-tab for a few seconds to respond to a message.

I fully support an auto-kick system but it needs to be something a bit more reasonable. 3 minutes or something because as of now it seems like it's only 60 seconds.

I love this new AFK kicker. No longer need to worry about team mates falling asleep.

I certainly understand the why and what it is trying to accomplish (keeping active players on the server, not AFK players), but I think it is accomplishing the opposite effect. Case in point .. 9:30 PM and there are 0 people on the server. I guess I don't understand the issue because while the server has many people on it, generally there are at least a few people that will start a vote to kick idle players and it was never a problem that I noticed.

I believe unless the server is full it won't actually kick so it seems unlikely it could be the cause for an Empty sever.

I wasn't saying that it was kicking everyone from the server until the server is empty smile.png What I was getting at is if there are a lot of people who don't like it, they will be likely to not play on the server and choose other options, hence causing an empty server.

To clarify further, I can't remember the last time that between 8PM and 11PM EST, the 2Fort x33 east server was empty with no real players playing on it. Usually it is full throughout that time. Perhaps it was a fluke last night ... but my hunch, based on the numerous complaints that I heard on the server since the auto-kick was ratcheted up, is that it is certainly not contributing to keeping the server full during peak times, and may be causing less players to play. Just a thought ...

Have to agree with Rushin. An aggressive kick timer, even it just moves you to spectate, is going make people not want to play on the server. Lotus is my home but if I were to look at the servers as a random pub player I would not like being kicked to spectate just because I went to take a piss during a round change.

The kick timer is that quick that even during the time it takes to switch the end of a full round that you will start getting the warning message. If you are gone just a few extra seconds you get dumped into Spectate. Yes you are still on the server but you lose your score and dominations, both of which people care about, and you can end up not being able to get back on to the same team because someone else may have taken your spot on that team.

I fully support an auto-kick feature, but just one that is not so aggressive. It is not unreasonable for someone to take a minute or two to piss or grab a drink with out being moved into spectate. Something in the 3-5 minute range would be much more reasonable.

You get plenty of time to spend in spectate and so it makes this AFK kicker less aggressive in that regards compared to what it was (previously it was split evenly).

But I did up the time you can stay afk in spawn to 2 minutes for now. That should be plenty of time. If you need more you can have it while spectating.

Your score stays after you get thrown into spec then rejoin. Not sure about dom's though

2 minutes should be more helpful. Previously it was so short that the warning would start just during the respawn time.

That got fixed and it won't happen anymore (regardless of the delay setting)

EDIT:

Oh actually it (for some odd reason) had another separate (and very short) afk timer for when you spawn and don't move.

So even though I increased the afk timer it didn't really do much when the other one was set to the default of about 20 seconds...

Fixed this now (pending map change).
