Hacker and Voteban Abuse

I was playing on this server 66.55.148.155:27035. and there is this hacker called Ransom e. olds http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198050395494 i did spec and and he has unnatural movement like turning around too fast and seems to know when an enemy is behind or near him and a killing spree of like 14 i think and just a visible hacker. And this player abusing hte voteban on that server after i tried to do voteban on that hacker and he also said a racist thing. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960447194 I also did !calladmin but no admin came. The hacker was playing as a heavy and he knew if a person was a spy or not.  There is nothing else to say but where have all the admins been when the server needed them? 

 

I was on the server on 1/1/2014 don't know the exact time but i would say about 3:30 pm. 

 

I do not have any proof because i thought an admin would come when i did !calladmin.

I'm sorry that no admins were available at the time you called for assistance.  There are only so many of us and most people have life responsibilities that preclude them from being able to spend all hours of the day monitoring the servers.  It's also the holiday season and many people prefer to spend it with their families instead of dealing with troublemakers.  Sometimes too many admin requests come in at the same time and it takes a while to get to all of them.  I recently had 5 come in at the same time when I was the only admin on, and many of them were made by people who wasted time by not telling me why they called, or not giving me enough information to handle their call quickly ("I saw someone flying around" was one such call), which makes it take even longer to respond to the others waiting behind them.  Lotus is working to resolve this problem to make it easier to get admin assistance when needed.

 

For future reference, it can be a lot harder for admins to get proof than for you to.  Typically, once someone is screaming "hacks" in public, the hacker stops temporarily.  Even if they don't, once someone calls for admin, then the hacker usually stops while the admin is there.  Unless the admin can catch the hacker red-handed or find other incriminating evidence through time-consuming research (VAC bans, bans on other servers, cross referencing the IP to other banned alts, finding incriminating chat logs, memberships at known hack sites, or going incognito and following the suspected hacker around long enough to witness obvious hacking, etc., all of which would take time away from the admin that could be spent responding to other admin calls) odds are there won't be much they're willing to do without proof.  I don't know any admins who would ban someone based solely on a random person's claim that they are using hacks.  It needs to be verifiable.

 

The best way to remove hackers permanently is to avoid calling them out in public, but instead quietly spectate them and record a demo (being sure to grab their steamID), and then posting it in a ban request here.  It's a little bit of work, but it is the most assured way to result in a ban on the offender.  Also, if he's abusing the vote system, just grab a screenshot of it and show us.  That's a very easy thing to confirm and punish for if appropriate.

 

Having said all that, myself and probably other admins will look into this player and see what can be found.  In the mean time, if you get any more information at all, feel free to post it here.

Wow that was a lot of things to read and i ow understand why no one came. But you are telling me that my report is invalid because i have no proof? And if yes then tell me who would waste the time to post it on the descutions on lotus clan group and to make an account on here just to have a person banned? Like i understand that i do not have any proof but my word but my god, i did no waste my time so i can have a random person banned. I saw how he was hacking in spectator mode and i saw that he was a heavy and had a kill streak of up to 16 a one point and i saw that he knew exactly where to shoot if there was a clocked spy or a person behind the wall. I was typing a message and hid behind a wall when his back was turned so there is no way he saw me and then he came to my hiding spot shot me and killed me and whent back to the place he was even though his back was turned and no way he could of saw me. So sorry to waste your time if you can not ban him because of no "Proof".

Think of it as a court of law. You wouldn't send someone to prison without proof of their crimes. You wouldn't do it on one person's word. Its the same here. Its not that we don't appreciate the time you've put in to bring this to our attention: its that if we don't have proof, its your word against his. Any old person could make stuff up, what would be do then?

 

As Sphag said, there are a limited number of admins, and this is a time of year when lots of people are away or busy. If we don't respond, its because there is no-one available, not because you're being ignored.

 

Its a pity that you were not on a server with stats, otherwise I could look into those. I've looked at a few things, and I couldn't find anything to suggest a history of hacking, so I'm afraid we're not going to be able to do anything at this point in time. I will keep an eye out though.

 

If you do catch them at it again, you can always record a demo of them (outlined here). Its really easy, and that will give us all the proof we need. But, in the meantime, thanks for your time, but I can't ban him on your word alone.
