Banned upon joining

So I join the surf server. I go pyro. I am halfway down the ramp when my game freezes and I get a message saying: "Disconnected: You have been added to the ban list." Now normally I wouldn't argue about a ban, but this seems to be completely unjustified.

Sounds like an smac ban. Those are automated. What exactly were you doing when you got the message?

Sure it isn't a rcon auto ban? I've seen that ban message for bans given automatically by the server, spamming rcon commands etc. But not sure.

The only time I've ever heard of rcon is when I was testing some things in an offline server. I simply went in and was banned on the spot.

There would have been "bad rcon password" responses in his console, and from the picture there weren't any. The last thing before he got disconnected was the SMAC welcome message.
