Kerberos 3,170 #1 Posted January 20, 2015 This is the "master thread" of the minecraft server. In here will be all the specifics which have been voted on by the community to have on the server. Core specifics: Minecraft server name: <TBD> Publicity: <TBD> Slots: <TBD> Server type: <TBD> Map: <TBD> Server Staffing: Managers: The people who over-see the server to ensure it's running efficiently. "the staff version of Lotus". <TBD> Server Techs: Plugin masters, configuration wizards. These guys add and configure plugins to make the server as enjoyable, but not overwhelming as possible. <TBD> Admins: Loyal subjects who keep the server clean and grief free. Have limited tools to maintain order. <TBD> Moderators: Basics in the world of staff; can kick and mute people, that's about it. <TBD> Plugins: Confirmed server plugins: MCore:- Necessary for most plugins we'd utilize. It's literally the "core". LWC-block lock:- This is essential to keep invaders and even friends out of your personal chests. You wouldn't want your brand new fire aspect 2, sharpness 5 sword to be looted, would you? [Any]Chat plugin:- Not quite decided which chat plugin to use as of yet, but it's certain that the official MC chat sucks and must be replaced. Permissions system:- We need a hierarchy to manage the server. There will be no OP's as they are exactly that; OP. Over powered, and susceptible to abuse. World Border:- This plugin has 3 main goals. 1: To prevent an endless world 2: Working with point 1, it creates a closer, friendlier "mood". There is no 10 hour walks between places to see each other. 3: It reduces the map side and over-all server pressure. It reduces lag, effectively. Debated server plugins: MCMMO:- This plugin adds fun to daily jobs. You can level up every aspect of minecraft, wood cutting becomes enjoyable, taming animals becomes fun and fishing... even becomes fun. It's really a brilliant thing to have on any MC server. Economy/money AND chest-shops:- Adds a trade aspect, encourages travel and communication. One of the sole reasons people quit minecraft is because they get bored of being alone. with a form of official trade, you communicate more and the game becomes alive. Factions:- This plugin allows anyone to create a faction, clan or whatever you want to call it. You get to name and create a description of the faction, you can claim land where ever you want and settle down. You can change the permissions within your faction, declare alliances and make enmies. It's a very thorough plugin which we could use as a form of protection and roleplay. Not only does it out-line specific areas of the map so you know whos land you're walking on, it is very flexible and RP orientated for those people who want to host little villages next to each other. All land is protected from outsiders and other tribes, unless you set the permissions up, as a leader, to say otherwise. Teleporters:- Used to get from A to B. The code in the plugin defines what combinations you need to make one. For example, you may need 2 emerald blocks to make a portal, making them expensive and rare. Or 2 dirt, making them common and horrible. Portals can be used to eliminate hour long walks from your land, to your friends. Please suggest any plugins you would like to see. I shall add them to the debated list, and there will be a poll on the entire debated list later on.
Minia 1,211 #2 Posted January 20, 2015 If we're going to keep the server as vanilla as possible like in tf2 then I suggest we go full on with essentials. Using the essentials core, economy, chat and groupmanager the very basics can be achieved. This would allow us a manageable server without needing a high performance host.
Kemmrah 13 #3 Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) I think you should get grief protection, it is a much easier ways for players and admins to protect areas than worldgrd. Edited January 25, 2015 by Kemmrah
