tinman 0 #1 Posted July 14, 2008 using vista home premium....just wondering why it seems to take forever to log OFF the servers in steam and if there is any fix for this...is any1 else seeing the same thing?
Melissia 7 #2 Posted July 14, 2008 Not sure... Vista is not exactly friendly to gaming from my experience. The Steam forums might be better for you?

What do you mean?
DarkClaw 0 #4 Posted July 14, 2008 I'm guessing either disconnect from a server, or log off from a user on steam is what he means.
tinman 0 #5 Posted July 14, 2008 yes, disconnect when finished with a game. i always get the err saying windows is looking for a fix online (never finds one though) which i usually just cancel. it takes probably 5 minutes to completely disconnect so you can use your computer for other things. Valve doesn't deem it worth it fixing I guess :S. Then again.. I think I fixed it for myself. I'll see what I did.
tinman 0 #7 Posted July 14, 2008 great i would appreciate that a bunch...i am using 32bit but it may not matter either way.
Alucard winrar 0 #8 Posted July 14, 2008 I'm running Vista 64 bit, I think I'm getting the same thing where everytime I quit I'm told that 'hl2.exe has stopped working'. Ironically I think the best fix might actually be f10, I think it ends faster that way. I havent really tested it since it doesnt bother me much. Rydawg 14 #9 Posted July 16, 2008 the hl2 thing is just an error code that doesnt mean anything, basically you 'force stopped' the application by hitting quit but Vista doesnt realize you did it, so it gives you an error. The slow log off thing has to be your computer, I have premium vista as well and when i hit quit or disconnect, its instant
Mana 3,867 #10 Posted July 16, 2008 I added it to the DEP list and even if I do get an error I can just click on it (as opposed to it being impossible to click on before).
PanDaru 0 #11 Posted August 4, 2008 Happens to me in a lot of games :/ Bioshock is my most notable one; I just alt+F4 out of it. I alt+F4 out of everything now... easier and no errors, just gotta remember to save ^^; no reminders with Alt+F4. Don't go hitting it repeatedly though you could accidentally tell windows to shut down
Mana 3,867 #12 Posted August 4, 2008 Gabe & Co fixed this in the last TF2 update .
