I Need Help To Understand Stats.

Pleas explain how stats work in detail if you can. Here is my guess but he said it's wrong.

Pretend you have 2000 skill. You play a game and kill 10 people which gives you lets say 10 skill and dies 5 times which reduces your skill by lets say 6. So you leave the game you now have 2004 skill. Am i correct?

He says thats the KD is the skill.

Stats are based on several things. The first being kills and deaths. The skill points of your killer / victim determine how it affects your stats. If they have higher skill points than you, killing them gives you more points than they would get for killing you. Same applies for deaths, if you die by someone with less skill points, your rank drops much more than if you were to die by someone with more skill points.

Then, there's point modifiers for the weapon you killed / died by, which is up to the admin (Mana in this case.) Normally guns like the bat are worth 2.0 ratio, while sentry is probably 0.5 (due to the difficulty of the weapon.)

Also, there are bonus points, so backstabs, headshots, capturing points/intel all give you additional points.

Yes i understand that, but is skill adding on top of the skill you alrady have or is it new every game?

I believe this answers your question falcon. Basically everything you do gives you some skill points. The idea is that even if you play a lot of classes that don't rack up a lot of kills like the scout, medic, and spy, that you still should be able to increase your skill points.

We don't know exactly how its calculated but from what mana has said they are probably close.

But we've been seeing lots of posts about stats, it would be very helpful if mana would post those equations or at least shed some more light on how skill is calculatted.

That is unlikely. Some people would decide just to do actions that give the most points (which are not actually kills). It will remain a mystery, like the secret sauce of Coca Cola. You can guess and get close... but not exact.

And yes everything that you can do (short of walking or typing) gives some points, flags, defense, etc, etc.

The secret ingredient in Coca Cola isnt a mystery at all. It can be easily detected by running the solution through a high performance liquid chromatography. Its only the trade name that sells.

But you can't detect the trace amounts of piss and sweat put into it! Not if its mixed over millions of gallons .
