Alucard winrar 0 #3 Posted August 21, 2008 If only those hyperactive 13 yr olds that played occasionally did this, then I wouldnt mind them.
friedrice 8 #4 Posted August 21, 2008 Too bad this video doesn't actually include anything helpful for spy checking. Here's a list of some things that will help you catch those spies without even firing at them: 1) Spies always carry the primary weapon. So, if you see an engineer carrying a wrench, he's not a spy. 2) Spies will not have that weird teleporter trail following them around. So if you see a trail following someone that is in your team's color, he is not a spy. 3) You can not walk through spies. So if you are stopped suddenly, or you kind of "roll" of the side of someone, you just ran into a spy. 4) Spies that are disguised as medics do not have an uber meter. 5) Spies that are scouts can not double jump, and while they will get a small speed boost, they aren't quite as fast. 6) Spies can't taunt 7) When someone is using the mic, you'll notice a little sound icon over their heads. You won't see that on a spy (Could be wrong, just never noticed this before) 8) Spies do not reload And of course, just look for people acting like spies. Now with all that being said, you can apply this knowledge on how to be a better spy, and how to be a better teammate. Such as, if you are running back to your base to get health or ammo, you are doing something that hopefully will alarm your fellow teammates. Let them know you aren't a spy by switching to a secondary weapon. Fire a couple shots, or reload your weapon. The problem is that spy checking does take time, and if someone has to run you down and spy check you, you are wasting their time when they could be spending their time better. monkey 0 #5 Posted August 21, 2008 Know when not to spy check though. I was playing spy and had a disguise on. My teammate unloaded all four of his rockets at me at close to point blank range. Then a demo came around the corner. Thankfully that shooting was stupid enough to be convincing so I stabbed the demo, lol. Seriously though, do NOT unload your full clip at someone carrying their secondary weapon.
friedrice 8 #6 Posted August 21, 2008 I forgot another point. When a spy on your team is disguised, he is wearing some sort of goofy mask. He is on your team! You will not see a mask on an enemy spy! I think this is one of the main reasons why I wanted to join a clan. Too many people on pub servers don't take the time to learn the classes and understand the weapons. Bezo 0 #7 Posted August 22, 2008 7) When someone is using the mic, you'll notice a little sound icon over their heads. You won't see that on a spy (Could be wrong, just never noticed this before) I believe (at least it used to be so) that when a spy is talking over voice, the opposite color ! will appear over their head. For example, if you are on red team and see a blue spy talking on his mic, a blue ! will appear over his head instead of a red one.
