Vulture 0 #1 Posted September 4, 2008 i was banned off of your 24/7 2fort #2 westcoast server lastnight for "cheating." I was playing sniper. i never cheat, and never have cheated. i am not even a very good sniper, and am honestly at a loss as to how someone could think i cheat. it is really obvious actually that i don't cheat. i snipe using the "clothesline" method, which is keeping my sniper dot stationary and letting players run into it... the only "possible" way i can explain that someone could see me as a hacker is that i watch enemy sniper dots, and can usually tell where the sniper is, thus i line my dot up to where they will pop out, which may make people think that i am wall hacking or seeing through walls.... also on that server i have 100 ping which could give a delay to my shots.... i appreciate your servers and play them frequently, and i can appreciate your guys efforts of keeping them clean, but lastnight at 11ish pm est someone made a mistake. as a sniper player, it can be damaging to my reputation especially, as i rely on a good name and "skills" to get kills. once i am accused of being a hacker people can claim that i am hacking to get my kills, which is unacceptable. i have been accused of being a hacker before by butthurt opponents, but never an admin, or been banned from any server. please give my my good name back Vulture ID: 0:1:18645471 page: http://steamcommunity.com/id/vultur3/ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Vulture 0 #3 Posted September 4, 2008 lag can benefit a sniper more than it can hurt you in sniper wars of course, but 80-100 ping i would not consider a lot, its barely perceptible. i would agree to the ban if i were "exploiting" 150-200 ping. lotus's call on this one of course.... i would stand to accept this as a reason for banning, but would not be happy with it and would dissuade my friends from playing on lotus's servers, citing "strict" banning practices. The first minute of the demo is questionable with the pyro, and you do a few questionable shots, especially with 100+ ping. At the very end of the demo, you did a instant turn shot on a scout with the intel. All these are questionable and are not 100% cheating, but to me and a few others playing on the server, it looked suspicious.Demo well gee, ban me on suspicion then. seriously, i watched the demo, it has shown me how embarrassingly bad of a sniper i am. i'm not sure what you think questionable is, those were legit headshots, they just looked "off" on the demo because, ofcourse my ping was at roughly 100. as for the about face, really? that's considered questionable? damn i guess i gotta stop using the "i suck" cheats. i challenge anyone else's eyes on this board to really think that that was cheating, or even questionable.... in good conscience Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The scout thing, with 100 ping, either you threw you mouse and randomly shot, which was extremely close to hitting him, or it was some other botting program that barely missed.. (I have seen aimbots/etc miss targets alot) If mana doesn't think you cheat, its fine by me.. I'm just doing what I'm here to do. What program is used to play those demos? Steam runs the demos.. (I have seen aimbots/etc miss targets alot) as for the pyro, i knew he was there obviously, as i saw him go into the corner and did not see him leave. also i know the geometry of that particular corner very well as that is where i snipe from mostly on that map. so, of course i would have my reticule on where i thought he was as i came around the corner. further, if i were aimbotting don't you think i would use the rifle when i came around the corner instead of the dumpy smg? as for the scout.... ya i got lucky getting him in my scope, but you can also see that i missed horribly with that shot. my shot ended up about 20 feet in front of him. also, i play soldier a lot as well and am accustomed to turning fast at a target that is close to me. i think the video speaks for itself, and shows just how un-suspicious my playing is. of course its a matter of opinion Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Xcalibur 5 #12 Posted September 5, 2008 Multiple people said you cheat. I know for a fact unless someone's doing something funky, people don't usually blare that for no reason. They either say it cause your cheating or they are bugged. You might be a cheater that does it very well, hides his cheats well, I have seen it along time, or you just get extremely lucky, and that luck causes 4+ people to say you cheat. Im done, I don't care either way. These are not my servers, I can't dictate who can and cannot play on them, I can only help mana by trying to find cheaters, abusers, etc. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
