Mr Pain 0 #26 Posted September 11, 2008 I've got the real galactic edition, so sweet.
BobRoss 0 #27 Posted September 12, 2008 It's an innovative game...like black and white, and other such games, its worth playing just to see the things that they did, and hopefully, someone will build off of it and come up with a truly great game. As it stands its a mediocre game and a really impressive tech demo. Some of the RTS stages are ridiculously easy and repetitive. The only reasonably fun stages are the creature stage and the space stage, but those get easy and repetitive pretty quickly, once you figure out a few tricks to totally fool the AI. I appreciate some games as art...and I think this one's worth it from that perspective...but you're not getting a lot of fun for your money...orange box on the other hand...best gaming value ever. Camail 1 #28 Posted September 12, 2008 If they expanded on every stage then made it online it would be epic, but as a single player game its is amazing. You have to look deeper than the immediate gameplay and it turns out to be very good. Hopefully it improves with patches and expansions. I 100% think that it will have a few expansions ( maxis likes doing that).

I 100% think that it will have a few expansions ( maxis likes doing that). Online would be cool... One thing I don't like about the execution (that could be improved later on)- in the creature creator stage, the parts you add to your creature are all functionally tied into the game, with just a few useless accessories, AND they cost points, so you have to build it up slowly over time. It encourages you to be invested in how your creature looks and changes over time. The tribal stage has none of that...just the stupid outfit thing that sort of changes with time, but its too easy to even really care about. The civ stage lets you design the buildings, and that has no connection at all to their role in the game, so there's no point to taking your time with them other than personal creativity. You also get to design the vehicles and the design seems to have a minor impact on the game, but there's no point to revising them as the game progresses. You just build them and then keep churning them out. The space ship design has no impact on the game at all...so no reason to care or to change it after you originally design it. I'm wondering why they bothered to come up with that great creature creation mechanic and then just threw it out the window for the rest of the game...were they just rushed to release it? The other thing that really bothered me was combat in the space stage, which was almost impossible for me, until I figured out a few tricks and then it was ridiculously easy (and actually got easier as the game progressed)...there's no middle ground.
