Camail 1 #26 Posted October 23, 2008 You fail to realize we only care if its funny to us, not to the Canadian in question. But to chime in, I'll say one thing that is a fact and that if anyone disagreed with me they will be tracked down by the economists in the world and bitch slapped. Sub-prime loaning is a very large part of this. Then the large corporations bought these loans assuming the housing bubble would make these loans appreciate. Then (my personal theory now) they believed they would profit from home liquidity and did not foresee the low-credit morons who couldn't pay their bills not filling the pockets of the companies. If I understand Trois, then I slightly agree with him, de-regulation has been something that amplified the effect, and the government reacting in such a way is also amplifying it ( like Coda said). But honestly, if you don't know the full extent of the economic system of a country you don't even live in, then you hold no ground in this debate due to lack of valid evidence. Also, the debt is not really a debt to me, unless it was 10 trillion to foreign bodies, I'm not nearly as worried as most people are. Also, 8====D. Yes, deregulation partially caused the problem- but only because we still have a central bank and gov't propped up companies. You can't have both no regulation and gov't intervention at the same time. That's just a recipe for disaster. And the debt is a problem, precisely for that reason. The entire U.S. is in debt to american banks for a total of 50 trillion. What's backing that 50 trillion? nothing- it exists simply as debt. When people start realizing that (or just when there's a big enough number of people who can't pay off their debt), the economy's gonna tank. And yea, I know I'm not an economist but I can learn lol
KillerKeg 10 #28 Posted October 26, 2008 lol you should know that its the ''laissez-faire'' economic american policies that caused this economic crisis. Welfare state FTW. I don't think I've ever seen you drink water.
Troispoint 0 #29 Posted October 26, 2008 I don't think I've ever seen you drink water. ? I hope you're not coming with the ''kool-aid drinker'' remark. Cuz that just dumb, explain me why you think welfare state fails instead.

No, I wasn't referring to Flavor-Aid, I made an obscure reference to an old movie. Welfare is stealing from people who work to give money to lazy fat people so they can buy plasma TV's. Many americans works hard in shitty under-paid jobs because their parents couldn't afford to help him/her pay for an higher education (University). The Welfare state solves this problem. Im not talking here about free education, Im talking about affordable education. wage slavery= chattle slavery

Troispoint 0 #35 Posted October 26, 2008 You do know Noam Chomsky was an anarchist right? /facepalm Was? He is still alive. Look, Marx wasn't right on everything, but on many things. Same goes with Chomsky, he's still a genius and a much more intelligent person than you and me.
