The Lorax 25 #1 Posted March 20, 2009 Anybody else notice that the servers seem to be clearing out very early these days? I play mostly at night, and I used to be able to play well into the AM with full servers, but now they are clearing out pretty much every night at midnight. This have something to do with Gabe's new wonderful server rank system or what?
Miyari 33 #2 Posted March 20, 2009 BECAUSE THEY LAG AND DROP PEOPLE AT NIGHT MANA WHETHER YOU THINK SO OR NOT /rage
Rydawg 14 #3 Posted March 20, 2009 Meh, i have no issues. The random drops that were happening last week were due to Seam, not Mana. I haven't seen any random drops since liek 2 patches ago. The stock maps server moved from Dallas to Chicago, so at least for me i get a higher ping which equals more lag. Its annoying but playable as long as I'm under 130 ms. If you ar elagging and dropping the 1st thing I would look at would be your own computer, especially your drivers.
friedrice 8 #4 Posted March 20, 2009 My game has stopped crashing since the last patch and I can't remember the last time I got dropped. I'm loving the new servers, but I live in Indianapolis which is 3 hours from Chicago I was playing until 2am a few days ago and it was a full server btw. Maybe you just smell bad
Mana 3,867 #5 Posted March 20, 2009 The client side crashes aren't helping the cause. Plus the main servers got moved. So the playerbase got spread out over 2 servers. It will take a little while until everyone realizes what "MOVED" means.
Chamrox 0 #6 Posted March 20, 2009 Probably a bad time to do the move because of valve/steam changing how they rate servers. http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=2338 Plus with the patch, I see half the server drop then re-add every once in a while. (I guess it's people without patches) That hurts the ranking. Anyway, I usually play the 24/7 Gold Rush, and I noticed that the regulars aren't there, at all. Mana, how many spaces do you put before Lotus when you list your server?

Mana puts some sort of special character (the box symbol) in there to make it go on top (actually a whole bunch of them). I tried to figure it out for my own dedicated server (that I run from my PC, just a little fun server with sounds and stuff) but failed.

I tried to figure it out for my own dedicated server (that I run from my PC, just a little fun server with sounds and stuff) but failed. It gets filtered from the server.cfg. You need a plugin to patch it in.
