Stats Fixed!

Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source stats are now fixed and fully up to date.

The reason for the long delay was because I had to use an older backup from about a month ago to in order to prevent the 50000 skill nonsense that cropped up thanks to a single stats file being processed over and over again. After that huge file was imported (3.5 GB) it took another 3 days to reprocess the logs and get to today.

Starting now the stats are back to hourly updates.

Other stats related news:

The in game stats chat command now brings up a menu with the most useful stats (more to be added later) instead of a page that took 30 minutes to load. This new functionality has been added by my lovely assistant AltPluzF4.

it looks like the last 2 weeks are showing as no play? Keg at 444, im like 800+. fail

No it's up to date. The european servers are now included in stats. That's probably why the ranks are different now :).

So the addition of the European servers resulted in everyone else dropping over 3k+ skill points with a single stat process? I don't really get it.

Now the stats just mean absolutely nothing (as though they did before? lol) because they're crammed with people the majority of us have never even seen and most likely will never play with. gg :P

The truth, she speaks it. My skill dropped a couple k as well

Yes, the addition of a helluva lot of new players to the stats resulting in ours dropping doesn't make sense.

Europeans getting score, skill and possibly bumping us off our ranks..? MADNESS. :lol:

My rank appears to be frozen anyhoo, and although it says I'm ranked 205, I'm no whar to be seen. So you don't have to worry about being beaten by teh Moose just yet.

As I said. I used a backup and reprocessed the stats up to today. The huge skill numbers that everyone had were made by the stats failing and reprocessing the same log files over and over and over. Once per hour for atleast a week while I was fixing them. So what you saw on the stats page were some huge numbers. That was a mistake and was fixed. No more 50000 skill players. Back to 5000 :).

I kept the old rank graphs though which was apparently a mistake as now people think that their skill dropped from 50K to 5K and the like.

I didn't mean people dropping from 50k to 5k I'm talking about skill scores dropping from the 7-9k range (which a lot of the regulars were often at) down to like 3k. We haven't been playing THAT badly, perhaps I'm not at ALL understanding how exactly skill is calculated compared to other players but I don't understand why if someone had 6k skill before then why they wouldn't still have 6k skill after, regardless of who else was added to the ranking. But considering it's some cryptic mystery algorithm, it's pretty much your word over ours anyway. I did notice that the 'top' stat score seems to have been lowered, whereas prior we had players at around the 10k mark at the top now it's around 6.5k so maybe it's just a side-effect of the overall reworking.

That being said, the stats are pretty much worthless with the addition of a bunch of players that the regular US server audiences will never be 'competing' with. It was a lot more fun when we were e-peening ourselves against people who wouldn't have a disgusting ping advantage. But I suppose the same could be said by them, too! Oh well. Meaningless stats are meaningless. I'm still a better medic than every single person on the stats. /pelvicthrust

It appears that all the stats were saved even during the 2~ week breakage. Kills, Assists, Deaths, etc... were all saved and reprocessed. Skill (what determines Rank) was reset though. Prior to the breakage at the beginning of April I was at 14-15k Skill, after the stats broke I was frozen there while others jumped up to 50k skill due to the bug. After the stats server was moved and started to reprocess everything my skill was at 3kish due to recent games I had played before the stats started showing up again. If you take a look at my skill chart (I'm in the top 10 depending on when you look) you can see where I was at 15k up until the 14th then in 1 day I dropped to 947 skill. Now the skill is going back up as I play.

I'm not complaining, I just think there's some confusion as to what people are talking about :)

yeah, basically we have our k:d rations and every other stat. But the skill doesnt match up like it used too. Even if the cap was lowered there is no reason for people who were constant top 20 rank to be 900+ now. The UK people arent that good,

I appreciate your efforts in fixing the stats. It is nice to track my performance (and our clan performance) over time. As other have stated, I question the validity of the stats though. I went from a 31 rank to over 700. Were there really that many European players added that contributed to this? I don't understand how rank is calculated as I've never taken the time to investigate the formula. But, if you say that you fixed it then I believe you. I guess it's just a hard pill to swallow seeing as though I play almost every day and my rank doesn't seem to reflect it. Maybe I just suck that bad? :lol:

Anyhow, thank you for your efforts. I really enjoy playing on your servers.

It's global stats for a reason. Because that's awesome! If you're ranked #1 on one you're ranked #1 on all. You don't have to compete against them but rather against their skill :).

Also what do you mean about ping? They have the same ping as on the EU servers as we do on the US servers... No ping advantage anywhere :S.

Oh actually I see what the problem might be. Decay was on the whole time that stats were broke. So everyone's skill was decaying the whole time. Luckily that's easy to fix for the future. Just need to increase the amount of lines that must be processed before decay occurs. That way if it ever breaks again it won't be able to do daily decay calculation as it won't get to do 100000 lines of logs. Yay.

Indeed it is awesome. That way you can play on multiple servers in case one is full or you just don't feel like playing there and want something new.

Oh and Stats aren't updating again in case you didn't know. Haven't updated since early yesterday morning hehe :P

SO when will it really be fixed Mana? SOunds like the US got the decay when the UK combined but the UK players didnt get the decay. That sounds about right and on point with how frappy the rank/skills are atm

ALso, I thought stats updated every hour? I played a few hours yesterday and it still doesnt show....

UK couldn't have gotten decay because they weren't actively tracked on stats for the duration of stat breakage. Looks like US players got the shaft to me. ;)

so much for stats being fixed :P They havent even updated in 4 days

They were fixed but one of the servers got a corrupt log again. This will have to be fixed manually by me. Though this time around nothing will get messed up :). Though it's pretty annoying. Psychostats is crap when it comes to handling failed logs.

In regards to the decay... Yeah the new European players didn't get affected by the decay much. But now it's all on equal footing. So go beat them!

EDIT:

The log files are not truncated. Need to get my passwords onto my new system and I'll take a look as to why they stopped. Probably the stats updater task expired.

Sorry about your loss Mana, but its still stupid that the US players suffered skill deprecation due to inactivity due to the stats not being processed due to shit being broke! FUUUUUUUU
