Pyro Compression Blast Tips

Recommended Posts

Albeit most people feel Pryo is a noob class, I mainly play Pyro and would like to improve my skills. Compression blast is a first step in that direction. I've yet to successful deflect a rocket or grenade, etc. Does anybody in the forum have any tips that might help me along? I've watched several videos on YouTube from some very talented Pyro players and think it boils down to practice but wanted to see if there are some timing tips or something anybody can offer to help improve my game.

Thanks!

Search for Pyro Dodgeball.

It's a game mode made by voogru and it's where rockets lock on to certain players, and there are two teams. You have to keep reflecting the rockets until each player on one team the opposing dead. The rockets get faster with each reflect on the speed dodgeball servers. It greatly improved my airblast skills.

Voogru's 24/7 Dodgeball Server: 208.43.4.58:27015

Voogru's 24/7 Speed Dodgeball Server: 67.213.220.116:27015

The speed dodgeball server has the rockets go faster every time they are reflected. You might wanna try the normal dodgeball server first.

Right, I forgot about the normal dodgeball server. I started off on the speed dodgeball.

Practice is required with pyro compression to get it perfect but there are a few tips. At extremely close range air bursting is anticipating when they are going to fire a rocket/grenade/whatever and this is where you are going to need the most practice, of course this differs from person to person depending on their reaction time. At longer ranges you can just watch the projectile and reflect when you see it get close. With Arrows all your can do is anticipate unless at REALLY long range.

When it first came out, MagocracyForAll and I were testing the arrow reflection range. In order to be able to see an arrow to reflect, you'd need to be about all the way across the middle point of Granary length-wise.
