How To Spy: A Rigormortis Productionz

Recommended Posts

Riggy, I liked the video. Also the music wasn't annoying. It wasn't like some emo-rock bull-fuck or Dragonforce ear-rape machine. It was nice. And, it gave me some clues on how to use the DR right. I mean, I could have watched someone better do it, but I think it was good enough for me.

I took quite a few ideas away from this video. It's chock full of the basics and some sneaky spy tactics you may not have thought of.

Ummmm... That video I linked was on YouTube before the Cloak and Dagger was released. It's the old watch. Glad your keen spy skills caught onto that fact.

pretty sure both of them were made before the spy update... so no

actually, i know the one i linked to is before the update. at 2:15 in the first video, the guy is cloaked, and his cloak is still going down. you can see him walking over metal and his cloak doesn't recharge, so it's even before that update.

and in spartians vid, it even says it was made before the spy update, so it was more relevant to the xbox version

Since the Dead Ringer just makes playing spy that much easier and takes the skill away from playing the class, it's really not necessary. It's fairly obvious how to play with the Dead Ringer, and the Click and Digger just requires patience. The main thing to take away from the vids Nose and I linked were the tactics, hiding places, and general motions for playing as The Spy.

One of them made me laugh. All he did was go over the same strategy several times to make it seem like there's more to his style of playing spy than there actually is.

START

"Don't disguise as a spy"

"Okay this is how you do a side stab. Now this is how you do a side stab on a pyro. This is how you do a side stab on a scout."

END

I still need more practice on the Spy, the Dead Ringer makes things kinds tricky. But, nontheless, thoust has done a very good video, and hath educated me a bit. In that, thank you.

Question for all you dork spies. With the work going on in the TF2 beta, would you take either one of these suits over the revolver? (Note: I might take the no-catchy-fire one if the other team has a bunch of problem child pyros.)

Spy

â– [confirmed] The spy is apparently getting not one, but two suits. However, it is currently unsure if either of the suits will make it through the beta at all.

â– [confirmed] The first suit gives the spy 90% damage reduction from flames and takes the place of his revolver.

â– [confirmed] The second suit prevents the spy from igniting at all and like the first suit seems to take the place of his revolver. It does not remove flame damage however and the spy can still die if the pyro aims carefully enough.

I like the first suit. You get rid of the flames with the dead ringer and also make it look like a death. The second one would be good with the cloak and dagger.

I'd take the second suit. Not being able to be lit on fire? Sounds good to me, just gotta run back to where that sentry is...

AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA.

Wait, you're serious?

Please note that I did NOT write those bullets, those are taken directly from the TF2 Steam User forums.

Make that everyone :P Even a bodyshotting sniper can find it easy to kill a spy in one hit when sufficiently charged.

Pyro, the Spy's mortal enemy. at least 65% of my deaths are flame related. Id definitely use the suit instead of a revolver.

Since I play DR I'd go with the 90% dmg reduction.

as for a pyro user... it would suck if there were the 90% reduction.... since both have about the same speed, he could use it to run around and try and kill the pyro... could be lethal for pyros...

Personaly, i can't play spy for shit. I have mastered demoman and heavy and always wanted to learn how to be a spy, since they are the only guys who kill me ;) Enjoyed the video and look forward to trying to use the spy:)

Just remember, for some (like myself) there will be times when you are rocking at spy and taking out the entire team, and there are the times when you can't play for crap, also, I've found that the regular revolver is better in a lot of situations than the ambassador.
