"layland" Steam_0:0:31311369

Recommended Posts

Where and When: Lotus West Coast 2fort, a few minutes ago (7:30AM PST) and probably still ongoing.

Who: He disconnected and changed names a few times because he was worried that he would get hit by the 30 minute ban. His first name was McTutu, and even though I recall doing a status check on him, I couldn't find it later so I didn't include it in my listing below. Regardless, he had the same SteamID as Layland, which also happened to be using the hacks as well. The folks that make these admin plugins need to invent a better system for votebans, as it won't commit bans if they leave because it doesn't record the SteamID as the ban is taking place, it just looks it up afterwards, and if he is gone, the lookup fails. I also think EtherNetFreak was his lookout: The person that tells him once the voteban is done so the hacker knows its safe to come back on the server with a new name. If the hacker joined back up too soon, he would get the ban, because he is on the server during the second lookup. Can't necessary prove that though...

Names he used, changed each time between bans. There was a different name he used at the start of the demo, but for some reason my console log didn't have it. Maybe I just accidentally excluded it. Regardless, he is the first person I spectate in the demo, as well as these names. I arrived before the situation started and left before the issue was resolved, so likely he will have been other names, and is going to be other names:

# 8835 "Layland" STEAM_0:0:31311369

# 8842 "Phyrio" STEAM_0:0:31311369

# 8846 "Dark_QTR" STEAM_0:0:31311369

# 8850 "[FAIL] Champ Bob" STEAM_0:0:31311369

What: He started off with an aimbot (When I started the demo, I wasn't sure it was an aimbot as he fails some shots horribly. It becomes clear a little later he is aimbotting) Then when a user named "Magz" went spectator, the hacker disabled his stuff, and it is clear he hardcore sucks without them on. I request the other spectators join back up, and as soon as they do, he turns the hacks back on. Even if at first he doesn't look like he is hacking, towards the end, you can see the classic indicators, the "wobbly" crosshairs when he uses his smg as sniper, and at the very end when he turns on the crit hack, his engineer pistol.

Demo: You can download it from my web server: http://nerdzrool.net/tf2/demos/mctutu.dem

Thanks. And if I forgot anything that I needed to include, please let me know.

This same guy was on the east coast server on and off from around 11:00pm-1:00am est(when i left but someone left me a message saying they think he was back on). I know it was him because I remember that steam id from him constantly coming back under different names. Soon as the first person put up a voteban on him he would disconnect right away tho. Also like to add he had no problem getting head shots on a stealthed spy on the opposing battlements. instant they stepped out it was a headshot. Didn't record a demo at the time because we did a voteban and every time someone was logging in we checked steam id's for matches to voteban again.

Yeah, I saw him do that once against a spy as well. It's also on the demo, I think.

I reviewed the demo... no aimbot, no hacks, ONLY a laggy sniper 240-350 ping & about the crits. He waits for a charged shot.

I wasn't talking about the crits with sniper. Charged sniper rifle won't crit anyway, only headshots or induced crits will. Regardless, I was talking about the crits with the engineer at the very end, as being the most obvious display. I feel you did not review the full demo. You mean to tell me that obvious aimbot smg (watch the crosshairs) on bridge and the even more obvious aimbot crit hack engineer is legit? I've got somewhere near 2000 hours in this game, and I know what's legit and what's not.

He had an aimbot, or at the very least at certain points, wall hacks (which is why he misses some shots) and he used 230-350 ping to hide it (as it makes it much less obvious as crosshairs won't jiggle around as much like they would otherwise). He proves it later in the video when he uses the aimbot blatantly as engineer because he knows that everyone else knows what he was doing. I think the start of video only shows his wall hacks (When he attempts to spawn camp as sniper, and fails some shots). Watch the whole demo to see what he was really up to.

Can you please review the entire demo? Thanks.

I thought I fixed this issue before. Apparently not entirely.

I'm trying to also use Valve's somewhat unreliable banning system alongside our database based ban system (By unreliable, I mean that Valve's concept of minutes seems to last for days sometimes). Anyway... the fail state was being set too soon if a person disconnected at a certain point during the voteban. I think I got now.
