With Free to Play, that is. Logged on last night and aimbotting sniper had 2 cheating friends ubering/healing him.

It's going to seriously get out of hand otherwise.

Shit... That didn't even occur to me. I hope they tighten up VAC.

But the least we can do is make it easier to remove such people. +1 vote.

Q. Won’t going Free to Play mean more griefers and cheaters?

We’re increasing our focus on making sure that hostile players can’t ruin your fun. Specifically, we’ll be keeping a close eye on players exploiting the ability to make infinite free accounts to bypass bans. We’ve built systems that’ll allow us to measure and track what these players are doing, and respond quickly. <_<

Still, I think Mana might want to consider adding some admins to whatever server they play regularly on.

That's not going to solve the problem if there isn't a viable method to remove the cheaters that DO show up. Unless you're okay with them sitting on the server for hours before tiring out and leaving.

as someone who knows absolutely nothing about programming for a large video game like this:

I am skeptical of valve's ability to effectively police the number of buttholes that will exploit the free 2 play accounts for hacking/griefing.

And, even if they are able to, I have to assume it will take time i.e. Building a history of a suspected hacker as he/she bounces between free accounts and only then blacklisting their IP...and then they just switch IP's

Exactly my point. VALVe employe's, 200. Team Fortress gamers (only as per group!): 225,000.

Now I wanna see them catch all the hackers, griefers, dupers, idlers, scammers and general scumbags with their supersystem. Heck think back how long it took them to move any foot against the idlers. And after years, SAM is still up and working. (Manual achievement unlocks = free weapons and hats).

I'll +1 this idea. Granted, I'm not volunteering. I'd probably ban people for being afk too long while we're losing.

It has been a long time since I have posted, that being said, after events today with an aimbotting sniper running around with the MG critting everyone to death non-stop... yes I will agree this needs to be +1

Some suggestions:

  • Voteban % » 65%
  • Votekick % » 50%
  • Voteban » Two hours
  • The person being votekicked cannot vote on behalf of themselves

I pretty much only play on the CSS servers but its extremely annoying to have players who do not speak english keep voting "No" even though we are trying to get rid of an afk/ct camper/hacker.

Or just take out votekicks completely, over 75% of the time the people that get kicked get back on the server in less than a minute and do the exact same thing they got kicked for. The only reason i can think of for it to stay is to more easily get rid of afkers. But for people who are disrupting the game or cheating, they take the successful votekick as they're annoying everyone on the server and they like that so it gives them even more reason to come back and try and piss everyone off even more. Then you try a voteban on them because they came back and are still doing it, and it fails even if its a legit reason because as Soad said, some people don't understand the reason or (as I think someone else said) people purposefully keep the disruptive person because they like to see you annoyed >.> Anyway, 80% is too hard for one thing because of these reasons and the fact they can vote against banning themselves and votekicks and votebans do very little right now. Another thing I always thought should be fixed was the fact that the votemute function polls both teams, when only one team can hear that person in voicechat. It makes votemutes surprisingly hard to pass because half the players are probably going to vote no since they cant even hear the problem, and the one vote against banning themself can stop it if that happens (and then dumb people always randomly vote no too, and some people vote no unintentionally trying to weapon switch or something and don't know about !revote).

I see you got votebanned today after trying to votekick someone.

That is slightly amusing.

The votekick is there to make people change their minds about what they are doing. Voteban is to get them of the server.

haha... yeah... well, thats cuz you were messing with kicks at the time and they were 99% >.> it would have gone through normally. I didn't even know the guy was a donator and haven't seen him since haha... Seriously though, people come back right after kicks almost every time. If anything, they seem to encourage the person to do whatever they are doing because they know they can just reconnect after getting kicked and nothing happens.

edit: and if I remember correctly i got banned with only 68% of vote too lol

Bleh I don't really care any more anyway. TF2 is garbage now, newbs everywhere, lasers everywhere..

I'm content being on Linux now that one of the only games I liked to play has been ruined.

Only reason to even boot in to Windows now is for SC2.

Core Game play and its origional style is still there the only that is garbage

is the new F2P kiddies

So go find a good sever cause its still a good game

Nah, I like to win too much for it to be a good game any more. F2P players everywhere. Rather than go in a server and cry about it I'll just accept that it sucks now. Core gameplay left TF2 quite a long time ago, assuming by core you mean a decent to good shooter heavily focused around teamwork and not around hats and retarded lasers.

increase the time for bans last time someone got banned it was only 30 minutes, making it longer can slow the hackers etc... and maybe they will go else where.
