Hey, so I signed on today hoping for a little arena in lotus, as it's generally the main server i play on, only to find out I was temp banned. I honestly didn't want to actually ban people, If you read the reasons they showed you, it's pretty obvious that it wasn't serious. I even voted no and would yell at people who did vote yes. If they had sincerly asked me to stop because it was annoying them, i would in a heart beat, there is no question about that. I know 7day temp ban, but this is the server all of my friends are on and the only server I like ot be honest. I didn't buy the donator for myself, so knowing it was an actual set rule is not something i knew and it's just what people do on lotus.You can strip my donator rights, that's okay im fine with it. They were a gift I didn't ask for. But I would like to regain the ability to play on the one server I actually have fun on.

Lilvahlopolis is a server regular on Lotus Arena! Chicago, and was given donator as a gift because he's so fun. He's a really cool guy and the highlight of the server at many times.

Now, to better understand why this ban is unjust, you'll have to understand Lotus Arena! Chicago a little bit better.

We have this ongoing joke on LAC, which has been happening for over a year and a half now. We always, and constantly, are votekicking and votebanning each other on the server, with the meme that everyone else is "hacking." It was a trend started originally by an older member, then myself, then it just became a regular server thing. It's a very playful and regular thing to see, in which most of the server partakes in. We constantly like to kick each other for funny reasons and just in jest. We never expect any of the votes to go through, and if even if it does.... 95% of us man up and laugh it off if one goes through. Hell, I've put up votes to ban myself on the server numerous times and have had it gone through, and I don't rush to the forums like a baby to go report whoever voted yes.

My point being, it's not uncommon for vote requests to pop-up during gameplay, especially for silly or farfetched reasons. We've ALL done it, unless you're some sort of server n00b who doesn't get the joke. However, most of us are regulars and do understand it, and not a day goes by when someone pulls up a vote for something silly. You're just NOT part of Lotus Arena! Chicago without being a part of this.

Myself, and others, believe Lilvahlopolis was banned unjustly, just because he had donator abilities and was able to pull votes up faster. Which, most of the server, thinks is better since the votes are more funny since you can actually type the reason. (When normally, the last person who votes can put the reason.)

He was just doing the thing we all do on Lotus, pull up silly votes (never expecting or wanting them to go through.) We all think it's a riot, and funny, and enhances the gameplay and makes Lotus Arena! Chicago the place to go in comparison to other servers. It's our "thing" and we all love it.

But since he's donator, he's victim to someone who decided to be the whiny tattle-tale kid and rushed to the authorities because someone "made fun of him." Lilv, and most of the people on the server, are really nice and if you seriously ask them to stop doing something, they would. If aveneyger asked him face to face to stop, he would have.

Trust me, lilvahlopolis was not "abusing the donator privilege" and if he didn't have donator, he would have pulled up that vote anyway... And so would the rest of the server. Why? Because we think it's funny, it's not serious, and it's in jest. We're not trolls, we've just become a community based upon fun and humor, and silliness.

The server will miss lilvahlopolis while he's gone, and we think if you realized the atmosphere of the server and it's regulars, you'd understand that this wasn't fair to lilv, as he's a great member on the server!

If anyone should get a ban, it should be aveneyger. Nobody else runs to the forums to whine about stuff like this.... and he's only doing it to be smug and get lilv banned to think he's cool. Not because he really thinks lilv is abusing his donor abilities. (Also, honestly, all joking aside, aveneyger really does do some shady stuff... But that's for another thread in the Ban Request forum with a demo.)

Plenty of other members can vouch for him and back this up, we all ask that you please not keep the ban on Lilvahlopolis or hold this against him.

I support this unban. A lot of people start fake bans there and usually no one takes it serious. Usually.

He didn't want to ban anyone and if they copied and pasted the whole vote to you, you'd see he always voted against and they never passed. I mean just look at the reasons, those alone are evidence it was a joke. If he was serious a ban thread would have been posted a LONG time ago, because you don't need donator to get a joke vote started.

If anyone actually believes he was mad, they don't know him or don't play on the server often. Donator strip > 7 day ban. And people can agree on this.

I'm the person that gave them and several others donor status through donations. It's common practice for the players of this particular server to mini-rage with a votekick that often has a witty reason for it. Unfortunately, the donor package makes that kick mean a little bit more, and that "bit more", combined with a few other peoples lack of the general sense of humor the rest of the server has, lead to a temporary ban that, did infact break the ToS that was unbeknownst to Lilvahlopolis, but was still taken incredibly out of context. Especially pertaining to the "capper" ban request, which takes place frequently on the server. There is a common "no-cap" rule where a large majority of the players agree to finish each other off. I would dare even say that 2 people are kicked a night / day due to capping, and Lilvahlopolis was not acting out of order with that particular kick.

In shorter summary, it really just seemed that a person outside of the general circle of friends that server seems to have, took a joke the wrong way. While I would have supported the OP'ers original feelings, since it can be a bit upsetting if the server decides to take the joke too far and kick the player to laugh about it later (rarely, but it does happen), it can be a bit frustrating. I changed my stance towards their ban request after I saw the screenshot of the "capper" kick, since that is common practice on the service. It just seems an angry player took a joke wrong, then grasped for straws.

Since then, I've made sure the donor's that I created through donations are well aware that they should take it easy while participating in the usual server buffoonery since it leaves them a bit more open to unnecessary bans as what happened here.

No, because there usually are actual shitheads that come into the server to cause trouble. We had to ban some guy named "Tron Paul" last night for micspamming, "IM TRON PAUL" while walking around as a heavy punching the walls. When it's needed, it gets the job done!

Really Afronanny? Let's just not read the thread at all and completely ignore the part where he didn't even care if he had donator status or not and he didn't mean to "abuse donor commands." His intent was not to abuse donor abilities, period. Take donor away from him as a punishment, not deprive him of gameplay. You're feeding a troll (In this instance, aveneyger) and bullying someone who didn't mean to do anything wrong at all, period. The rest of the server doesn't have an issue, we all like the guy and know he meant no harm. Do we need to get more people in here to explain this to you, or what?

I read the Ban Requests forum quite often and we all like it when you're "Soldier McHardass" but it's not deserved in this case with this particular individual. Especially since almost everyone replying to this thread contributed money towards the server in some fashion.

Ok first off I would like to say that banning Lil is really childish. In my opinion if anyone plays on the arena server with him would know that he makes the game interesting and fun. Im shocked that no one tried to ban angry squirrel.

I play with and against lilvahlopolis all of the time and never once have i wanted to ban him or even kick him. Whoever suggested in this ban should be banned themselves for being stupid. This is A GAME... ITS MEANT TO BE FUN... Racist and sexist comments are made but everyone deals with it and goes to the next round.

I created this account just so i could get my point through, because Lilvahlopolis is one of the funniest guys to play TF2 with online. Hopefully this will change the minds of the admins and the people that play on this server.

I am not really sure of the situation not having been on the Lotus servers for a while with the whole Summer Camp thing going on, but I can personally say there was no harm in what Lilvahlopolis was doing.

I regularly play on the Chicago arena server and we constantly call votekicks on each other for fun and there is never any harm done, because we all usually vote no, including the people who called the vote.

So if we are going to start banning people for calling votes, then where do I sign up? We can just start having all the regulars leave because someone can't take a joke very well.

I can think of 2 people off the top of my head who abuse their donator privileges all the time and they're yet to be banned. But I won't say their names because its all in good fun anyway and they usually don't pass as the others have said. Funny how Lilv is the one to take the fall.

Liva however responded with his usual pseudo-rage, and it continued. What these posts show is what I have been saying the entire time: Chicago Arena is not like any of the other Lotus servers. This type of thing is the norm, not the exception... votes for capping, votes for non-melee, votes for camping, votes for killing etc. etc. If you read my initial request, I also stated that I'd be happy with a donor strip: I've got no issues ignoring these peoples comments / muting their headsets when I connect.

You attempt to Control the server with your unsaid rules, kick/ban threats, and gang-mentality (with the rest of your "regular" circle), which you expected me to just follow along with. I didn't, you got burned, and now the insults start to fly. The votes may not pass often against me, but they have, and they do against plenty of unsuspecting non-regulars who just came to have fun. I'm not afraid to speak up- it's not whining, it's having the balls and a voice to do so. I look forward to seeing you back in game (whenever it may be)- Kill me / Kill you, and log off without another thought.

To the Lotus staff: I stand by whatever decision you make 100%. I've been the #2 in command for a top 10 TF2 community / clan, and I know the pressure that comes with that.

While the votes were in jest, I wouldn't call them meaningless. You DO use hacks, quite often in fact, especially on scout. In fact, I know a lot of players that do on Arena! Chicago, but we all end up not caring because we're all having too much damn fun and we're not whiny bitches like yourself. All issues aside, as this isn't helping Lil's cause, I just don't see how a ban against someone who didn't know the rules, and was given donator by a friend, is more reasonable than strip of donator and warning.

Avey you really didn't make an effort to get your point across to him because if you did, he would have stopped. I and others feel like just because the kick was against you, you acted this way. Nevermind other donors, including myself and non-donors who start kicks and actually pass them, you went after the person who means them the least.It just honestly doesn't make sense. Think about it, the amount of people who did it before him and you didn't speak out on it, did you really think he was going to believe you were seriously offended by it? I'm sorry, who was it again that was talking about not hijacking threads? I believe my behavior and anything I do has NOTHING to do with Lilv. Now THIS is hijacking a thread. If you have some beef with me, go post that stuff on the "Ban Request" forum with proper information.
