Elite Cookiemonster 0 #1 Posted May 27, 2012 I have been playing on lotus clan servers for over a year now, and I figure it is time to start my own clan. How would I go about starting it? Is there someone on the website where I register a clan? I was browsing the lotus clan website and forums for a while now, and I can not find anything on starting a clan. Thanks for any help you can give! bump

Elite Cookiemonster 0 #3 Posted May 27, 2012 You could always just apply for recruitment here? I suppose that would be an option. I always thought there was a way of making an official tf2 clan through lotus. No? And if not, how would I go about making a tf2 clan? There as to be more than just adding the acronym in front of my name. I see lotus picks up all the clans and ranks them based on points, that is what I want. My clan will be #1. Willerms 1,794 #4 Posted May 28, 2012 I think the main issue with making your own clan would be recognition and support. Lotus started out as something for Battlerealms and expanded to TF2, DoDS, and CSS. Servers help with that and our vast amount seem to help with recognition. It also helps that you can play on lotus servers by pressing the play now button on TF2. It's always good to have ambitions
Nano 7,892 #5 Posted May 28, 2012 If you make a tag and put a "space and |" after it or enclose it in brackets, it will automatically recognize it as a clan.
pockets 1,841 #6 Posted May 28, 2012 Get a few people to wear a tag Ex: {-CLANTAG-} Cookiemonster and it will show up on the stats page. I think the brackets/dashes/parenthesis etc. need to be symmetrical in order for it to work. So Ex: <<CLANTAG)) Cookiemonster wouldn't work. So use something like <clantag> or +(clantag)+
- Oli - 1,121 #7 Posted June 3, 2012 I have been playing on lotus clan servers for over a year now, and I figure it is time to start my own clan. How would I go about starting it? Is there someone on the website where I register a clan? I was browsing the lotus clan website and forums for a while now, and I can not find anything on starting a clan. Thanks for any help you can give! bump Well to start you'll need a game and server you'll make for it so that people will be attracted to your website with forums page, donations etc or whatever you want. You'll need paypal setup if you are taking donations and have many other things. You need to have plans of what you want on your game such as bukkit or plugins for minecraft, or other mods included and what donation benefits will be (without those it's likely not many people will donate, although not many will even if they exist until they play regularly on the server i'd imagine). So you'll need to be hosting website, have server/s (can make pcs for it or hire them from somewhere or a combo), probably donators package to make sure you have some form of income etc. You'll need to have very good terms and condidtions so no loopholes etc - so donations are a gift and the things you receive in return are a gift from us; they are subject to change at any time and may be revoked if behaviour breaches rules (you may also receive a ban for this). It could take many weeks of planning, and depends upon how much you know, who your contacts are and what skill sets they have etc - or could take a lot of money if you're willing to buy a website host and designer for you etc as well as servers. Also you might want to consider your first game or game servers as some games are very popular and crowded already etc - if you have a tf2 server i'd start out with quickplay enabled (quote willerms below - the click to play button on tf2) and that way you can get a few players just flying here and there. I can give you help on minecraft server, and i was at one point learning about how to set up a tf2 server properly but as i no longer required it i stopped learning (highlander tournament and my team had no server, but a kind gentleman on our team bought a server instead of me sacrificing my spot on the team to run the server that may/may not have been ready on time). It's always good to have ambitions Yes quickplay is enabled on a few servers So play on those and you get full of nubbins xDI would agree willerms, getting people to join a clan, play regularly on their servers, donate and be active on forums is the hardest and worst part rather than setting up a server or forums page itself - i've seen it in my friends clan that is all but gone - even the BF2 and minecraft servers they did run have been now shut down until further notice.
