Possum 10,776 #3 Posted August 3, 2012 Your post was riveting... In a competitive environment, of course alltalk is stupid, all you carefully laid plans become carefully laid to the oppositon as well. However, in a pub environment, where the game is more of a social occasion rather than a competition, I personally like alltalk, I love having good banter across the mic. Fyi, most if not all Lotus servers have all talk off by default.
Nano 7,892 #4 Posted August 3, 2012 As possum mentioned, it is set to off by default on most Lotus servers.

Fyi, most if not all Lotus servers have all talk off by default. alltalk servers are predictable.. they consists of maybe 6 people talking.. the 6 people talking generally sound like best buds.. the rest of the server doesnt talk.. i've seen this before.. this typically results from tf boredom.. the game in itself isnt fun enough anymore.. admins rarely play due to this feeling of boredom.. so they switch on alltalk.. cheers
Se7en 10,762 #9 Posted August 3, 2012 Yeah Lotus admins are pretty bored of TF2. That's why we play it on an almost daily basis.

They wouldn't need alltalk since there is a team chat to use if they were all on the same team...And if they are all on the same team and using alltalk to say what they are going to do, then why are you complaining? Novalia 6 #13 Posted August 4, 2012 you highlighted one part of my post and someone else commented on another part.. the major part that is overlooked is that aside from those few people nobody else will chat with alltalk enabled.. they'll simply clam up.. no more alerts to enemy positions no more planning or anything.. in addition its aggravating when lets say you're going to take the intel out of the straight stairs.. you alert your teammates to that and then you hear a dude on the other team say "thanks".. so nobody will really chat.. i've been playing this game for almost 5 years and i've seen it over and over.. people will stop talking aside from these friendly friends.. tf is still a somewhat competetive game.. alltalk removes that aspect. and what i meant by my "best buds" comment is that the chat becomes so much more exaggerated with alltalk turned on.. but only between those "best buds".. everyone else is stone silent. go into an alltalk server and observe.. you will see max 6-8 people chatting... out of 33. so i'm complaining because alltalk in effect stops most people from talking. ayway.. its just my opinion.. cheers. be open minded and do what i have highlighted above. there's a SKIAL server located in chicago.. try it there. Possum 10,776 #14 Posted August 5, 2012 You.are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I agree with you to an extent. However, as I said above, alltalk is normally off on Lotus servers, so I fail to see what the issue is. If there is one with alltalk on, I'm sure we can turn it off.... - Mike - 2,728 #15 Posted August 5, 2012 And out of just regular playing on servers w/o alltalk, how many talk anyways? In my experience there aren't many talking... And about the Skial servers, I play on those too and no one bitches about alltalk being on. Plus it can be voted to be turned off or on. So what are you complaining about? Asjo 90 #20 Posted August 20, 2012 Yes, the few times Afronanny has come around on the UK 2Fort server and turned on all-talk, it's been quite fun. However, that was also at times where a lot of regulars and social types were on. I'm just relieved it's not on per default
