I think Lotus Clan should make a server with instant respawn intel, on Turbine or you could use a different map, it would be good because some people like me like having instant respawn so you wouldn't have to wait. Turbine would be a suitable Map because you can fight at there's a lot of places you can use different classes at like Engineer can use a lot of things. Medics can on every map. Heavy is good on turbine,Pyro is Scouts also useful Soldier is useful well literally every class is useful on Turbine. Sorry for making this thread so boring. Just my suggestion hope it goes in concideration.

This is already on a different place and is going very well.

I don't personally like instant respawn, it turns it into pretty much deathmatch since defending is so easy with instant respawn and I don't like deathmatch. :P

As for it being made, Lotus is a set of vanilla servers so it's unlikely. I'm not Mana though, so I don't know.

Respawn times are part of the game, without the difference in respawn times, there would be no balance... the 10, 15, or sometimes 20 second wait after you die is a necessary part of the game... there are plenty of instant respawn servers out there, but it's game-breaking

Its quite fun, i like then thats my opinion. I think alot of other people out there like it too. And there are plenty of servers with respawn times.

Any server not on the QuickPlay would die without a strong community presance behind it.

Insta respawn is for noobs that always die and then angry because they spend most of the game watching the respawn timer, but thats just my opinion. As Chez said, it is a necessary cog within the game for the purposes of balance.

I'd be cautious with such statements.

noob is often interpreted as insult because of poor gameplay. enjoying fast respawn times is not a crime. i can see why ppl enjoy it, but i prefer vanilla respawn times for the strategic aspect.

what ppl think is fun or not fun is just a question of personal preferences of how the own gaming experience should be like.

in fact, lotus has vanilla servers only for the sake of quick join.

I'd love to have a lot of lotus no crit servers, but it'll never happen. but thank you for bringing up suggestions for making servers better :-)

btw, as always, mana has the last word with this. we'll see what he decides in the near future.

Actually the term "noob" was initially coined as a reference to a new player, which people for some unexplained reason then made it negative and to regard it as a bad player, when quite frankly to correct term for that is "That guy is shit at this" or "He/she sucks".

What I was trying to say though, is that it is for new players in my opinion as they may always die and therefore become quite frustrated at the game. So the insta-respawn may in some respects be regarded as a handicap for said players.

I do see where Irradicator is coming from, it does give never players that chance. Though, I would recommend newer players to go play on a Valve server, where the skill level is generally not that high (unless evil people like myself decide to smurf). The problem with instant respawn is that it encourages more reckless play, perhaps instilling bad habits into newer players. 2fort is enough of a stalemate as it is, instant respawn...shudder....

Remember games like UT, playing CTF where instant respawn was default? Go to get the flag, kill a defender, you get damaged, and they just instantly respawn in their base on full health? Flag running in those games was so fucking difficult, because in many cases, being killed was actually advantageous to the defenders. The whole point of a respawn timer is to re-balance that issue, by providing some sort of incentive to the attackers for killing the defenders.

And no respawn time makes a lot of difference. You finally destroy 15 sentries and hop here they come back in one second. Just that game play style of rushing and dying brainlessly is not for me, so I voted no.

Yea, they should make it instant, and then Possum, Tristan, and I can triple kritz pocket you (because why waste perfectly good stickies as non crits?).

Jubica makes a good point about sentries also, I mean I hate dying as an engineer, because my sentry is essentially wide open for being destroyed. WIth instant respawn it somewhat withdraws the penalty of dying as you can very easily keep your sentry alive.

You know, the only benefit of instant respawn would be to players who demand other games, such as COD in their TF2.

2Fort would be the best map to do it.

IMHO, instant respawn is terrible for the gameplay. it kills the effort you´ve been working for and when you´re up against stronger players, painfully long stalemates are often the consequence. I personaly like the instant respawn in games like UT, where you can use a broad variation of weapons, suited for different situations and distances to other players. But in TF, where the classes are so unique in many ways, instant respawn is nothing more than a funkiller.

Does anyone know the word "newb", alias "new being", the origin of the more insulting "noob"?
