Griefers,trolls, Etc

I've always enjoyed Lotus servers, 2 more notably due to the people that play on them regularly. Matches are fun, respectable, trash talk out of humor, and great all in. With summer and many of younger players playing daily, it's increased the amount of trolls and griefers normally seen by ten fold. Normally the vote kick feature works well,but lately a trend has turned where many invite their friends on the server to detour the vote ban. Another issue is the opposing team not caring to votekick, and wanting to take that easy win, and people on the team not caring to vote either. And the few that usually do try to vote kick trolls and griefers are often then ganged up on and vote-kicked, and sadly successfully vote kicked. I understand there is a !calladmin feature, but doesn't this turn into a he said she said scenario? I've been vote kicked earlier once,”for the lulz” and I have a pretty high tolerance for all this 4chan web culture that edgy angsty teens embrace for their rebel with no cause persona . (no I don't hate teens) It gets more irritating when the opposing team finds it humorous when said team is the dealing with the griefer and often joins in. To prevent rambling longer than I have for my first post, how do we deal with situations like this?

TL&DR trolls bring friends, opposing team thinks it's funny and joins in, and vote kicks the folks trying to vote kick trolls what to do?

If you're having problems with trolls, hackers, etc. just type !calladmin into chat, and someone should be there to assist you shortly.

I read that in an earlier thread and didn't want to make an identical post, like i said, when you do this what do you do if it turns into he said she said scenario?

It's best to either take screenshots, or go into the developer's console (should be ~), and type record trouble (or whatever filename you want), then status, to get a demo with steam ids. This will also record voice if you're having trouble with someone harassing/spamming over mic. That way the admin can sort out exactly what happened, because it can be hard to join a server and get two different stories and know who's telling the truth!

You can always put this into your autoexec:

bind "END" "record report;status"

that way you can simply hit the END key and the demo will start recording automatically to file "report.dem" in your TF folder, with a list of everyone on the server and their Steam ID. When the trouble is done, just open up the console and type "stop"

I don't mean to put you down or anything, but I've used this previously and sometimes the status command doesn't initiate. Whenever I go back on the demo, there was no status at the beginning.

not sure either, sometimes the console is sloppy without wait commands; and these should been disabled for a long time now.

1) clear - (sometimes help to clear you console view, be carefull though, if you've got some "chat" evidence due to console log, these will be deleted)

2) record [demoname] - will create a *.dem file, named after your input. FPS might drop down for a short amount of time, depending on the CPU setup

3) status - will print all player names with their STEAM_IDs into the console

4) condump - will create a condump.txt with all the current information printed in your console into a *.txt file and store it to your tf2 folder

5) stop - will stop the recording of a demo

record [demoname] and status are required to have a clear and quick overview of what's happening in the demo right now.

Sorry to hear that you had problems on a Lotus server. I very very rarely see problems. I wonder if certain servers seem to get more issues than others? I play mainly Euro servers and the occasional US server...in the last four weeks I've probably seen 3 instances of abuse. I'm not saying it doesn't happen though and it can be very frustrating I imagine.
