FKA_Bittersweet 1 #1 Posted August 4, 2013 I've been on both LotusClan.com CS:S servers. I believe they both have an advertisement asking for suggestions, so here are some: 1. Office and Dust2 might be 2 of the best CS maps ever (I do like Aztec, Dust, and some others as well). Still, how about a map rotation of some sort? 2. Better/some admin presence to enforce rules and kick/ban cheaters. 3. Get rid of vote to kick/ban. This just allows disgruntled players to kick/ban players who killed/ticked them off. 4. AFK, connection spamming, etc. - with the state of the game today, there is no legitimate reason to disconnect/reconnect. Players that attempt to do so should be penalized by not being able to connect for X amount of seconds. If you really want spectators (other than admins), use SourceTV. Other than that, there is no legitimate reason why users can't disconnected to do whatever it is (phone call, use restroom, eat, etc.) and reconnect when they are finished. On the other hand, admins MUST be exempt and allowed to spectate players. Counting SOLELY on any software anti-cheat solution won't work in the long run - the mice will always require a better mousetrap, etc.
Ruby 9,039 #2 Posted August 4, 2013 Hey there, the problem is, I don't think we have that much (or almost any?) members or admins who play on our CS:S servers. If you would like, you can submit an admin application (make sure you note it's for Counter Strike in the title) and the staff will get back to you on that.
FKA_Bittersweet 1 #3 Posted August 11, 2013 Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what the issue is with this forum software, but I'm not getting any email notifications of replies, and several of the buttons don't work. It may be that I'm using Chrome, I dunno. I don't recognize this forum software at all. Even using BBcode manually is shaky. Anyway, I ran my own CS:S server for a few years, and there is certainly a good amount of traffic on the Lotus CS:S 24/7 Office Server. Today, there is definitely some sort of issue on the server. I'm not sure if it's the result of a new plugin, or something else, but all of the BOTs are having shaky movement, like an epileptic seizure or something. Even some of the humans have models exhibiting the same behavior. The only thing I've seen that caused this were bad "no block" plugins or bad "anti-cheat" plugins. Seems like someone tried to port some of those that worked well in CS 1.x over to CS:S, and they don't work as well - have issues. Meanwhile, cheating seems pretty rampant. My own server is offline while I go through a transition in real life. I really don't want to start being an admin if I'm the only one, and just be kicking/banning people all of the time, especially when I'll be going back to my own server at some point in the future. I guess I can think about it, since I'm not sure when my server will be going back up. For now, I'd say the server just needs a reboot and someone to take a look at the BOTs' shaky, epileptic seizure-like behavior. I dunno man, I submitted an admin application using the link provided by Obviously Poss..., but I can't see the post at all. There's a cool feature...just add text to the previous post rather than create a new one. Really? Someone thought this was a good idea?

Forum is Invision Power Board, but yes, some settings could be tweaked a bit. The applications in Admin Apps are invisible to everyone but staff - I can see that your thread went through so you'll likely be hearing from staff soon. Thanks for the help. Also, our server manager - Mana - is currently in vacation mode, so he might be slow to answer questions or requests.

FKA_Bittersweet 1 #7 Posted August 13, 2013 The quote button doesn't work with Google Chrome/Win 7-64. Some sort of progress bar does pop up at the top of the screen, but it just sits there a second or two and then disappears, and nothing happens. Possum 10,776 #8 Posted August 13, 2013 The quote button doesn't work with Google Chrome/Win 7-64. Works for me, using the same setup as you. Weird.
FKA_Bittersweet 1 #9 Posted August 14, 2013 Works for me, using the same setup as you. Weird. It does work with IE on this computer, as well as the copy & paste. I guess I have a Chrome update to do. One more suggestion, if I might. I really do hate BOTs, especially since the updates starting preceding CS:GO, but the BOTs are there to fill slots while there are no humans to fill them. The 5 vs. 5 format is the standard in most leagues. Another side effect of BOTs is that many of the cheats out there (not all) do not work on BOTs - or at least they aren't as effective. So as much as I hate how they smoke the dumbest places at the dumbest times, stand in a doorway and reload, tip-toe up to the ticking bomb, just generally get in the way, and way too much stupid stuff to list it all here - I think that a 5 vs. 5 format would be better for the CS:S servers: bot_quota
