Hi. I've been playing on Lotus servers for quite the amount of time. I've bothered to join the group but it was spamming pointless events every time I logged onto Steam which later caused some conflicts so I eventually left; but still remained on the server.

 

I primarily play on Lotus bot servers to cool off and play around for the most part, and mostly to test new mods and textures that I add to the game and see how well my PC can handle them.

 

Recently (50 mins ago) 2 Spanish people were on the server with me. I didn't really mind them. Note: My favorite class is unarguably the Sniper. He's funny to listen to when you dominate someone, and it just feels good to headshot players. Not sure why but it comes to me naturally as a skill I guess. Keep in mind this took place on a Hightower Bot server, a very open spaced easy tracking map. Meaning that enemies are mostly spread into areas where they are completely vulnerable to headshots or a powered body shot.

 

Being that the bots on this hightower map are very passive, it makes for a good cool down/testing server. The bots have a tendancy to stop at the ramps in each of the spawning areas, so the cart is permanently stuck there until a human player pushes it him or herself up the ramp. I normally get headshots through this area, as they tend to stand still for a second, move and rotate, then stand still and repeat the process. It's very easy to score headshots. I left to turn my configuration down a notch, my computer is a bit wonky when I set it to the dxlevel95.

 

I rejoined, and the guy named Corvus and his friend ac started slandering me with accusations of aimbotting. Calling me a noob, telling me to go to the other team, leave the server and aimbot somewhere else. I eventually couldn't take it and lashed out on them calling them completely oblivious idiots. But I guess they didn't get it because they were Spanish. Eventually they began to recieve the idea that you can do !voteban on the server and proceeded to do so. I had one player on my team named Dr. Know (He changed his name to K. halfway into the game) and it was me and him VS. the Corvus and ac. I was banned for 30 minutes, which was completely unfair because I literally did nothing wrong other than call them a name that they deserved. I waited, tried to join chat in the Lotus group but to no light did that shed. I saw 'votebans are not permanent' in the discussions, so that made me feel better. I went on a trade server to kill time, and logged back onto the same hightower server, where there was now FOUR of them waiting to purposely kick me off the server AGAIN. I just instantly got votebanned for ANOTHER 30 minutes. Incredulous. As much as I praise Lotus for creating a strong community and a strong chain of servers, I find it's dumb to implement a system that has this kind of abusive fault instilled within. I get that every system has a fault; nothing is impervious to fault. But on a small server such as? I think it should be removed. Any idea on how I can maybe stop these people from abusing this feature? I have console chat already copied and I know their names.

By all means, post the console chat, any demos, and their Steam IDs if you have them.

Console information has been added, on the other hand. How do I find their steam IDs without being in a server and typing "status" in console? I can link you to their account pages if that'll help. Also, when I got votebanned by the four other people I couldn't manage to see their names quick enough, and conveniently enough, my console was spamming errors. So I cannot help you on that part.

The two people that started the whole fiasco. I can't seem to find a way to link directly to their profiles on Steam, but if you search their names in the "Add Friend" area, you'll find them. They're brand new to TF2 practically.

With !votebans it works on percentages. Playing on a server with few people means it will take less for the vote to pass through, whereas a fully populated server will require more people to agree on the ban. It's obviously not the best when there are a few people on the server, but it makes sure that a proportional amount of people actually want the ban, and stops a couple of people kicking an entire server.

Also: !calladmin in chat will summon an admin if something like this abuse happens in the future.

Also: go to your steam profile page and add "friends/coplay/" to the url. You can see who you were "playing with" on that server the second time you joined.

EDIT: You're faster than me to snag the IDs from them myself. Jesus man. Anyways, It listed these two people as the others that I joined with: Minecraft 1234, and Qwontome_Matrix.

 

However.... It listed them as people I've played with @6:42 PM. And the most recent people I've played with were both ac-ultimatefan and Corvus @7:36 PM.

Ghost_Jor, thanks. I completely forgot that Lotus had that feature enabled. And yes I totally forgot it was based on percentages. My logic is flawed as I haven't slept for nearly a day now, but thanks anyways. Now if you'll excuse me, I got some new weapons to break in.

Thanks so much! I can't believe that someone staff of a group has personally responded to a post...first time this has ever happened to me when I've joined any community. Love you guys, I'm back in Lotus. Time to do some winning.

Well that and I did !calladmin because they thought changing their names would allow them to be impervious to punishment, and once I saw through and called em out, they decided to try to do !voteban. I frowned, and did !calladmin but no one came. Who cares right now, they'll need a lot more consent trying to voteban me anyways. Thanks so much for the support.
