Ban Request for Sharker/Hijacker

Recommended Posts

All of this has been reported to SteamRep. Unfortunately since they do not deal with sharking or hijacks, they have informed me to report it to many trade servers and report via steam profile report.

Here we go.

Accused profile: 76561198119557633

| steamname: Cum Jarate Buying CSGO items| steam3ID: [u:1:159291905]| steamID32: STEAM_0:1:79645952| steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198119557633|customURL: http://steamcommunity.com/id/CumJarate| steamrep: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198119557633

Victim profile: 76561198129450910

The victim's account was hijacked by the accused. The accused paid a small bribe to the victim for his password. The true intentions of the accused were to steal the Something Burning This Way Comes Hustler's Halmark, a very expensive item. The victim then lost control over his account, effectively causing the accused to have his items stolen.

Accused backpack profile is banned on bp.tf as of now

This is to hopefully eradicate his chances of sharking any more players of their valuables.

For more detail into the report the steamrep report can be found here. Read very carefully. http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198119557633-tf2-team-fortress-2-items.83018/

Interesting, thanks for the heads up.  We usually only ban people for causing problems on our servers, although we have a trade server and I think some people ban match from TF2Centre so exceptions are made sometimes.  I'd say this would be a staff decision.  They should be along in due course.

Thanks again for letting us know.

Scamming and sharking attempts should result in a ban from the lotus servers. It is frowned both by the trading community and valve and we should not tolerate these sort of dishonest players to be allowed on the servers for the sake of our own community's protection. Our players should not be at risk of losing ANY of their items on our servers for a dishonest action including price manipulation/sharking or scamming. I am not here to make a decision for staff but I would appreciate my opinion to be understood. Thank you.

We do have existing guidelines in place to address scammers on our servers... But to date it's only been used when an admin who was on saw it happening on our servers.

Historically we haven't banned players for their behavior on other servers... But... Now that some of our admins do so on our servers and other servers we've allowed them to carry over the bans... mostly because we can trust their judgement.. To date we haven't extended that to proof of wrongdoing on other servers by non-admins, like this topic.

That being said I don't want this scum taking advantage of our players any more than the next person.

So where am I going on this... I think it'd be appropriate to ban in this case due to overwhelming evidence... But I don't think this should set a precedent. For the time being if any other cases of bans for scamming on other servers comes up, they'll be reviewed by staff on a case by case basis. If it becomes a regular thing we can reevaluate the admin guidelines to streamline it.

I'm not on a device to place the ban if someone else would be so kind...

Tl;Dr. Banned, future instances like this will be considered by staff on a case by case basis for the time being.
