Se7en 10,762 #2 Posted January 23, 2015 Try removing your custom and downloads folders from inside tf path and try launching again.

koKo_ 350 #9 Posted January 27, 2015 What was the problem? there was a program that started automatically when i booted up my pc, it interfered with hl2.exe, so i just have to manually stop the program from running every time i start my pc, its not that annoying

Gloves 945 #11 Posted January 29, 2015 Had the same problem for a while, turned out it was raptor (amd gpu thingy) being lame, the worst part was killing 1 process at a time and restarting tf2 over and over again trying to find the villain, so if you got a radeon vid card and tf2 freezes on startup kill all the raptr processes :

Cola Kid 230 #13 Posted March 5, 2015 if the program is still starting up and you need to close it down in tast manager there are a few things to try out that could make life easier. 1) the stupid thing people often forget. look in the startup folder in the start menu. 2) go to www.filehippo.com and download a program called ccleaner. it will let you see all programs that currently start on boot up and let you delete/disable them individially. Its also handy for cleaning up the computer in general as it can clean cache files for all browsers and windows and is even able to do a fairly good job of cleaning up your registry although dont do that unless you feel you can get back in yourself to put the backup installed in case of errors. 3) edit the registry manually.
