What Makes The Lotus Servers So Successful?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm a server admin for a couple Day of Defeat servers, three Team Fortress servers, and a Counter Strike server. I found your website after seeing the DOD server at #1 on gametracker.com. And it made me wonder, what makes your servers so successful?

Did you have trouble filling them initially? What steps did you take to overcome the emptiness of the servers?

Any of your thoughts would be very appreciated. :)

Take care

Even though i'm not Lotus i think i can give the right answer.

They're large servers. Many people yearn for large battles. 33 players seems like enough. The feasibility of going into the server list and clicking players to the highest and seeing those filled up servers. Not to mention, they'll show up right when you click the players slot due to the space in front of the lotusclan.com. So mainly it's a direct consequence of people wanting a large battle in a populated server. For most 24 is not enough.

It might also be the community which draws people to come back time after time because they enjoy the players and the more relaxed nature of TF2 rather than CS or DoD. Chances are most TF2 players would not last in DoD or CS, so it's an easier game with a higher payoff of success.

The first paragraph is why i came to lotus. I want a big battleground server. More kills, more deaths, etc. The number of idiots on the lotus servers are low, and i decided to stay. The second paragraph is what i've observed from my time on Lotus.

Also, it's a pub. Generally the biggest pubs tend to stay alive and active the longest so long as the community can pay for the server costs. In CSS, i've seen too many 64 player servers die because the costs are through the roof.

Part of it for me was the fact that there were a bunch of Lotus Clan servers with various combinations of maps.

Another part of it is those playing on Lotus Clan servers seem to be better than average. I've played on other servers before and there have been more n00bs and stupid people goofing off. I don't mind goofing off once in a while, but it's also nice to be able to work together with a somewhat competent team.

I would say ping for one, you don't really get lag in the servers at all and when you are running a 33 slot server with no lag you want to come back

second, The number of servers. there are so many servers with so many slots people come back because they are able to always get that feeling.

third, the community, the members are rather close and play all games together. so we are able to start a dead server and get it populated because once one member joins a server, we all do, and then everyone's friends do because they know how good the lotus servers really are

that work?

I'll be honest, my penis is one of the main features of this clan, so I can rent it out on Tuesdays and Fridays.

But the first time I played lotus was the only server that wasn't fucked up, so I played. Then the new era of Lotus began after Dovi got me recruit status and quit.
