Heavy Update

Recommended Posts

This is what I heard through the grapevine.

Heavy unlockables:

Boxing Gloves -> more damage for the fists

Sandwich -> replaces shotgun (either +50 or +100 HP)

Gatling Gun -> less damage, but if it hits and enemy, they move 50% slower (thus they stay in range longer).

We will see what truly gets released, but it seems about right

:EDIT: BOXING GLOVES HAVE BEEN REVEALED! (1/1 for predictions)

Wait aren't those upgrades? Aren't the weapons supposed to be alternative? And fix the medic problem? Those won't really help. Sandwich should be a 4th weapon.

The last one is mostly likely fake, because valve has said they will not add any thing that affects a player's control of their character.

They are supposed to be replacement weapons, not upgrades btw, so those are probably fake... which grapevine were you picking to get this info? XD

This is something I found, just for fun. Maybe Valve's will make this an unlockable!

'Sandwich'? Is he going to be picking out the meatz and cheezes and throw them at people? Slapping them with hard rye bread? Can the scout steal it?

Space Marine Heavy = <3

I heard this from a guy who apparently beta tested the weapons.

I am skeptical myself, but I thought it would be a bit of fun to discuss the possibilities.

sandwich would be interesting but it would have to be a one use item if it were to heal. And its not like heavies use their shotgun that often(even though its the ranged weapon they can use while moving). But yeah these dont seem that likely.

I agree, its odd that valve is doing this. Medic was in need of a popularity boost, pyro was just a sucky class(arguably this has been gone to the opposite extreme), but heavy was just fine.

Valve said one of their goals was to make heavies less medic dependent. huh? That could be said of any class. Guess valve hasnt heard 'dont fix it if it aint broke'.

Yeah the Heavy is fine just the way he is.

I think now that they took away the +50 HP for the Pyro, it is a better balance.

Well whether or not the heavy is golden as is, Valve has pretty much locked themselves into this achievement roll-out theyre doing for every class. All to early to say though since we dont know what else is coming down the pipe for everyone else.

Dont envy the person who mostly plays the class near or totally last in line. :S

I'll bet demo is last. I really hope they do scout next.

They have really been milking this thing... I thought all achievements would have been out by now. Guess I was wrong.

Actually, I think spy is gonna be last. It's the easiest class to unbalance and some of the other class unlockables might inadvertently tip the balance so if they do him last they can fix up anything wrong.

I cant wait til they hit my favorite classes sniper and demo.

Valve, creators of award-winning games and leading technologies, today announced the unveiling of details for the largest update ever produced for Team Fortress 2, the multiplayer action game that recently topped PC Gamer UK's "Top 100" list.

Beginning today gamers may find details of "The Heavy" Update being disclosed via http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/. The site will reveal new information and screenshots each day, as well as a special installment to the "Meet the Team" series of video shorts.

"The Heavy" update is the largest update to Team Fortress 2 since it was first released as part of The Orange Box last October. In addition to offering new unlockable weapons, achievements, "The Heavy" update also includes a brand new gameplay mode and a number of new maps.

The rollout culminates next Tuesday, August 19 when the update will be made available to all owners of Team Fortress 2.

To give all gamers a chance to check out the new gameplay introduced in "The Heavy" update, Valve will be running a Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend via Steam, a leading online platform for the delivery and management of PC games. The Free Weekend is open to gamers the world over and scheduled to begin Friday, August 22 at 11 am PDT.

For more information, please visit http://teamfortress.com/

We'll see how this goes Gabe... wonder how many exploits will be added this time around :D.

The new game is "Arena" which I have known about for some time now.
