Is The Difficulty Option....actually Work?

About 6 years ago, when I just started playing BR(the unpatched version), I don't really remember it but during the mission 'Return of the Serpentholm';mission 7, I confronted all the Zen Masters in both Wolf and Lotus clan respectively! I mean, my brother that time also played the same mission as me, but he doesn't fight against Zymeth, Grayback, and the other Zen Master. All he battle with were only the soldier@ While they had they're own Keep, I barely won that round(It took about a month...I'm so green that time).

Then when I installed the Winter of the Wolf expansion, and played the Kenji's Journey again, even though I put the difficulty at the hardest, I don't meet those Zen Masters anymore at the same mission. Is that because the unpatched version is harder or it's a..........glitch? Hahaha..

I've never thought that setting the difficulty on hard ever did anything, even in Skirmishes. I don't think it works. The AI in the unpatched version was harder to beat (In my opinion, it was way more fun to play against), but it got dumbed down later because of complaints.

...Unfortunately , they made the AI too dumb with the patches. Even Zejiwarrior's AI profile 'The Dragon' is dumb, and that has all of its settings set to 100. I've heard that if you set the harassment down to zero when editing an AI profile, that makes it a bit tougher to beat, but I haven't checked that out. Sadly, there's not much you can do about the single player AI. :/

Most likely the unpatched version the diffculty wasnt changed. What i did on that mission(dragon) i made peasant huts on the nearest rice patch/water

then after i built 2 peasant huts i instantly started pumping out soldiers for defence til you get a couple of yang. YOU WILL BE rushed by both Wolfs/Lotus-Wolf will attack first from the bottem right corner and lotus on the top right corner. After you got your defense/offense ready, attack Wolf first because it would be easier. After eliminating the wolf focus on Lotus with Samurais and archers(flame arrows) Put them on a separate groups make sure the samurais attack first and focus on the buildings(watch towers first) with the archers.

I agree with you one mission I notice is missed that one in path of serpent ,map serpentHolm where join Necro with troops from east
