coda 1 #1 Posted September 11, 2008 So I've just realized that my stats pretty much only go up when i'm playing against lotus people- the rest of the time they go down. I'm kinda trying to wrap my mind around this- I play better against good people? Not quite sure. *edit sorry for the trouble mana, but i think this better belongs in recruit lounge... you don't have to move it though*
Nket 16 #2 Posted September 11, 2008 if your lower than them ranked, which most of us are ranked high then your skill will go up
friedrice 8 #3 Posted September 12, 2008 I went 3:1 on a game and my rank went down I guess i'm at the point that I can't just rack up a lot of kills, I actually have to cap the point make sure my team wins
silvio 0 #4 Posted September 12, 2008 once my rank was plummeting from doing k30-d5 and k50-d12 games I gave up on it.
Jengo 0 #5 Posted September 12, 2008 Best not to dwell on it. I don't think KDR affects your skill points very much at all. I'm guessing it matters more about who you kill and whether or not they are ranked higher than you are. I can understand that to a point, but it shouldn't affect your skill level more than your KDR, imo. Someone who has a high KDR can obviously get things done, just like a scout who can cap and a medic who can heal and do successful ubering. I know some of you have said it is more important to be able to take out sentries, etc than have a high KDR. Think about that for a minute. Do you honestly think someone who has a high KDR can't hit a stationary target like a sentry? Also, apparently whether or not you are on the winning/losing team add/drops skill points which is sorta bs. Especially when we are unable to avoid the autobalance. You could be on the verge of dominating 5 players on the other team, have 2 intels on them, and *poof* you get autobalanced, unable to get your dominations on those players and you end up losing. Tell me thats fair to the player to take away skill points for that (doesn't matter if its only a few points, there shouldn't be any taken away for that). Speaking of the autobalance, there is a glitch which does not register a kill for you when the player you just killed gets autbalanced to the other team upon their death. So you don't even have those points registered. But I doubt its even worth pointing any of that out. It probably isn't going to change.
Oww My Nose 19 #6 Posted September 12, 2008 There's a way to avoid the autobalance, it just costs you $5 or $10 a month
BobRoss 0 #7 Posted September 16, 2008 So I've just realized that my stats pretty much only go up when i'm playing against lotus people- the rest of the time they go down. I'm kinda trying to wrap my mind around this- I play better against good people? Not quite sure.*edit sorry for the trouble mana, but i think this better belongs in recruit lounge... you don't have to move it though* I think it works two ways, like they said you get more points for killing someone with higher skill. Likewise you lose less points for being killed by someone with more skill. So assuming you can maintain a similar K:D ratio in both situations (probably a bit worse vs lotus members), your kills will count more and your deaths will count less. Whereas vs scrub players, you'll still die a lot, because your team will probably be scrubs too and no backup = death for any player (except maybe snipers), and those deaths will count more against you than vs good players. You'll also probably kill more scrubs, but those kills will count for less... If you think its too much weighted in one direction, it may just be your personal skills don't really work with the system as it is set up (i.e. you may just be better at avoiding death in general than most players). If it is a wide spread thing, where almost everyone gets higher skill vs better opponents, than maybe the weights need to be rebalanced to make it overall even (i.e. the points account for the slightly lower on average K:D ratio vs good opponents and make it roughly equivalent in points to the higher K:D ratio vs scrub players).
