Can The Overhead Height/elevation View Be Changed?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I registered with battlerealms.cc/forums just today and I thought I would post a question that may have already been asked already.

While playing BR you can change your angle of view from the 'overhead' to a 'lower to the ground' angle (by rolling the wheel on my mouse). With the World Master Map Editor/Creator the user can zoom out a far distance to have a larger and better overall view of the map and terrain (as well as change the angle).

My questions are these:

~ During BR gameplay is there a way to zoom out a 'long distance' to get a quick overview of the battlefield?

Something tells me that the only ability of 'zooming' is what is already built into the game, which includes the changing of the angle and height from the default to lower and closer to the ground).

~ Is there an add-on or something that will allow this elevation change?

If not, I'm hoping that the next generation game series of BR will have this feature available to 'customize' to the users preferences during gameplay.

~ I would also like to ask if anyone knows if there is a way to 'edit' the overhead view?

Possibly to zoom out twice the 'default game distance' or more, but to still be able to zoom back closer to the default overhead height.

~ Is there a program (maybe a trainer) that will allow such a change to be made? If so, would this height elevation be a permanent change?

Thanks for reading this post.

Hopefully this isn't a double post as I tried to search for something related to this. If anyone has any thoughts or answers on any of these questions, please feel free to post them. Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice. :)

I know there isn't anyway to zoom out farther when you're in gameplay. If you screw around with some programming and stuff you could probably change it but we don't have access to that kind of stuff.

I haven't heard of any trainers that could help you zoom out farther but there might be one for it. Maybe someone else here knows of one?

In WorldMaster you can zoom out pretty far but unless it's a fairly small map you can't view the whole map from afar.

[LOT]rundown,

Thank you for your reply, answers and thoughts on this topic. At least now I know that I haven't been overlooking some in-game controls or something that wasn't written in the game manual.

When it comes to zooming out further while in the game, it would be nice to zoom out a little further, say twice as high up than the default height. I agree that to zoom out really far (like with the World Map Editor) would make it very difficult to see and and probably impossible to accurately control the units.

Thank you again for you thoughts.

Great English you got there, PacificWarrior.

You can't zoom in. If we could, then Battle Realms must have a different image made for everything for each frame of zoom.

I think trainers can't do it.. If trainer can do it, then the whole battle realms client will get an error because of it graphics.

hmmm maybe but it all depends on the maker some programs can modify program files to allow it to zoom out to see the whole map...

because it has not been done no one actually knows if its possible or not this is just my opinion not neccesarily right...

futsalfred:

Thank you for your nice compliment on my writing. *smiling*

futsalfred AND BenEducationNotice:

It makes sense to me as I read both your thoughts on the graphical changes that would be neccessary to allow the different sized graphics. *nod* That would certainly make for a lot more work by the graphic designer(s). *yes*

"But y would u wanna out zoom when u have the miny map on da screen lol ... "

Well, the simple answer to that part is that I sometimes find the default height a little too close to see ALL of the battleground and all the units etc. I find the small mini-map is too far away to see the units in any detail. As I'd written in the first post, just to have a little more height than what we see would allow a better overall quick-view. *smiling* Having said that, I'm certainly not complaining with the views/angles available. *nod* It's a great game.

Reading all the posted thoughts and ideas on this subject is enlightening. To all of you, thank you kindly for posting.
