Rusinch_Tyver 0 #1 Posted March 15, 2009 I've got one known hacker and three suspected hackers. Unfortunately, I didn't know that I'd have needed a video, lest I would have nabbed one somehow. First one; the known: The offender was on my team; during one of my deaths, I cycled through my teammates, watching as they played. I switch between first- and third-person often, and noticed this player was a sniper. He was zoomed in at the time with 100% charge. No biggy, right? He fires, kills. Reloads, scopes... immediate 100%. My team or not, he's still a hacker. "Dutch Oven" STEAM_0:1:17414685 Second; a high suspect. The player was a sniper; I was as well. 2fort. Recently (as of time of post - 3:15 AM GMT -8 Mar. 15, 2009). He managed to hit me, with what I believe was a headshot (I can't remember, don't take that as it was), through a two walls. I was in no position where he could have popped out, shot, and popped back in. I was above on the right BLU battlements, behind the corner wall, staring at the right RED battlements. He was in the lower right RED base. "DSteel" STEAM_0:1:7621579 Third; another high suspect. The player was a pyro, in the same game as the aforementioned RED sniper. I realize this is a legitimate strategy to employ and is quite effective, but he would run up our battlements, flame us (there was another sniper with me at the time) with the flamethrower, and finish with the Axetinguisher. Now, again, I realize this is a legitimate strategy, but he was killing us MUCH too quickly. A friend of mine noted that one shot from the offender's flamethrower would take out half of his health (again, a sniper). As well, later in the round, when I had switched to Scout, the offender would tend to get kills on me much quicker than should be possible at the range he was. "Kook" STEAM_0:1:1579757 Lastly; a mild suspect. He is the same as the above pyro, but not to the same degree. During my time as sniper, I don't remember him coming after me, but there were too many times where he would kill me much too fast, even as the frail Scout. "fynix" STEAM_0:0:11153814 Now, I do realize that you may very well be 'unable' to do anything about these players without video proof; but please take my word with some merit. I don't wish to cause trouble where there is no cause. I would highly recommend anyone on the servers noting these offenders to pay attention and preferably take video for me, if possible. Many thanks.
PuRe Style 0 #2 Posted March 15, 2009 No offense dude but from what i've read, the thing about the sniper and the 2 walls... you just had a lag moment or a bug, or it was a legit kill... just because someone kill you in some "special way" doesn't mean they hack. If MANY times, things like that happend, I could understand, but your report seems to be based on a short period of time, like one game...
+Henry Spencer 117 #3 Posted March 15, 2009 Sorry bro, the burden of proof rests on your shoulders. If you can prove beyond a doubt someone is hacking and record a demo, awesome. Otherwise, there's not much that can be done. I don't play the 2fort server much (my 2nd time was 2 nights ago), and it doesn't seem like many people I know do either. I think I'll just stick to my Stock Maps anyway; caught a guy aimbotting there when I played...

The thing is is that there was -no- way he could have shot me; lagging or not. I was well behind the wall and he would not have been able to hit me unless he was on the upper right RED battlements. The second two could be accredited to me just being a bad player, and that I was pissed from being killed so many times in rapid succession. However, this offender showed himself as such quite a while before, and while I wasn't pissed. Sorry bro, the burden of proof rests on your shoulders. Even if I don't get them banned now, I can at least warn everyone else and ask for others to try and get it for me if I can't. And there isn't ANYTHING else that can be done in the mean time? Nothing at all? I'm sorry, it just seems a bit like there's no trust in reporters. I know some people might abuse it for players they just don't like, but you have to give people some credit in case they are right. :/
+Henry Spencer 117 #5 Posted March 15, 2009 What I'm getting at is, they are innocent until proven guilty. You yourself don't have to be the one to get the demo. I'm just saying, video proof is a lot more reliable than opinions forged in the heat of conflict. Seriously, I've thought a few guys were hacking before, but when I went into spec to "catch" them, it turned out that they were just regular players. This is why videos are much more powerful than just words. Go ahead and warn people to look out for these guys, and tell them to take demos if there's any suspicious activity going on. Just keep in mind that it is HIGHLY unlikely that they would be banned without some substantial form of proof. I don't want to step out of line and put words in Mana's mouth, but it seems like bans are taken very seriously here.
Mana 3,867 #6 Posted March 19, 2009 A demo is required. Not a video... a demo. Read this for more info: http://forums.gamingterritory.com/index.php?showtopic=3976
