I know of a few people who would love for Mana to bring back the 24/7 Steel server. I'm not sure why it was closed down, but I think that many people now would like to have a 24/7 Steel server. If you don't care either way, please don't post.

I am totally for any 24/7 servers. I think at least one server should revolve a different map 24/7 changing every week. Maybe egypt one week... junction the next.... and so on and on.

Hmm... I'd have to say I'm against it.

First off, if Mana got rid of it, he did it for a good reason. It probably wasn't popular enough to hold much interest.

Second, that map has a tendency for steamrolling or turtling to death. What do I mean? Rarely will you find a game where a team actually fights hard for every point, and wins as a result. Usually what happens is, BLU gets a base up in B, they take A, get a base up A-D, cap B, cap C before it even opens, then proceed to rape the D-E area. Conversely, they'll get A, but then be stuck at B because of the massive amounts of demo/heavy spam and like, 3 sentry guns pointed at the door.

I can't see steel being popular enough to have it's own 24/7 server.

It's selected quite often in Stock servers. Often enough that I thought I might try this...

Average player count on that server = 2. That sums it up.

Essentially what mana is saying is "no, regardless of this poll"

Astute deduction. I was mainly trying to see how many people actually wanted it, as public demand can often bring something back. I was also a little curious to see what the average player count was on the server. This topic has actually brought up an interesting idea, one I hope Mana takes an interest in, which is having a 24/7 server that cycles maps every week. Mana could then tweak the map cycle depending on average player count when the cycle is on a given map.

Heh. Two successful Steel votemaps on two different servers on two separate TF2 sessions. Too bad one crashed in the middle of Steel...

While I love steel as well, it's a map most people don't like. With the votemaps, I think it's often a 'least hated' map issue. Before it is badwater (a PL may hate) then after it is Egypt (Ultimate turtle cp) and then Junction (Fails (too small) on 32 man servers). Often this is the vote that comes up where steel wins. I can't remember what map it happens on, but I know steels is hated less than the map people are on. Steel is one of those maps that is also a good change of pace because it plays so differently (including a beatable turtle).

I would be all for the rotating 24/7 server, but I have a feeling it would eventually settle into a single map after a while (Probably Gravelpit if only maps that there isn't a 24/7 Lotus of already were used).
