Mana 3,867 #3 Posted May 25, 2009 I already said this time and time again. It's the next community map. At least it should be... due to it's popularity.
Melissia 7 #4 Posted May 25, 2009 Lol, Valve are such fucking trolls. But seriously, what did they expect from people? They put in this randomb ullshit based on TIME rather than skill, and so people are doing in this game as they have always done. They want to make the game like MMOs? Well people will play it like an MMO, and that means the equivalen of botting (going offline while still earning gold/xp), in this case idling.

The Scatman> 0 #6 Posted May 26, 2009 The new unlock system is crap, but saying that the old achievement based one was crap as well. What they should of done is base it on actually playing the game, ie how many kills etc you do. Hey ho that would be too simple though I guess.... h3gi 5 #7 Posted May 26, 2009 The achievement-based system actually WORKED in theory. Based on performing certain tasks that would better your gameplay and help your team, it rewarded you with weapons for playing well. I, for one, chose to earn my weapons after a few sessions of achievement servers and deciding they were cheap and that I was too good for them. However, there's ALWAYS going to be some way of circumventing the principle of the system, no matter what it is. Why? Because people are lazy. I'm positive Valve knew achievement_idle servers or equivalents would pop up, but given the fact that the system isn't functioning like it's supposed to and is spewing out items much less frequently than intended, I don't think we'd be seeing nearly as many desperate people and most, in fact, would be enjoying the unlockables without having to bother with playing TF2 abnormally in any way. And WHILE the playtime-based system is inferior in essence, even if it worked like it's supposed to, I saw it as a necessary shift from the achievement-based system as a component in the customized weapons/trading system, since milestones limited your unlocks to one a piece. I'm going to hold out on complaining about the new system until I see the bigger picture in place, because Valve knows more about it than me, let alone more than any of us.
