Paul Bunyan 13 #1 Posted November 25, 2009 So I did a little research. Nothing was learned tonight. You all have a good one. Edit: I'm still up. Fuck going to sleep.

Rigormortis 15 #4 Posted November 26, 2009 So I did some research on a dietary supplement called Melatonin. It's actually really good for you. Aside from it's uses as a powerful anti-oxidant, naturally occurring hormone, and Immune system booster, it's also beneficial to circadian rhythm. Not only does it help you sleep, but it also increases REM sleep time giving you longer, more "vivid" dreams. Wiki: "Some supplemental melatonin users report an increase in vivid dreaming. Extremely high doses of melatonin (50 mg) dramatically increased REM sleep time and dream activity in both people with and people without narcolepsy.[46] Many psychoactive drugs, such as cannabis and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), increase melatonin synthesis.[46] It has been suggested that nonpolar (lipid-soluble) indolic hallucinogenic drugs emulate melatonin activity in the awakened state and that both act on the same areas of the brain." Pills usually come in 3mg form. I took 5 last night and they knocked me out pretty quickly, giving me some very interesting dreams. I've yet to try smoking a blunt while taking the melatonin pills. Having an increase in the synthesis of melatonin combined with the additional drug from the pills sounds like it would take you to one hell of a dream land. The best part is they are actually healthy for you.
Super Sean 1 #5 Posted November 26, 2009 I wouldn't mess with anything that deals with chemicals for the brain. Seriously. If you take it too many times your body will start to produce less of the drug because it's getting it elsewhere. I'd rather be awake and have less vivid dreams than be a spaz all day because my brain is fucked up. Just saying.

Victoreem the V of doom 30 #7 Posted November 27, 2009 The best part is they are actually healthy for you. Wrong. Where are the side effects? There is no such thing as a "healthy" pill without side effects just as bad as what they "cure". Hopefully your not bleeding from the ears when you reply. Rigormortis 15 #8 Posted November 27, 2009 Morons report these side effects: "Hopefully there will be more adequate clinical trials to prove the saftety of melatonin supplements.Reported melatonin side effects include headaches, nausea, depression, nightmares and vivid dreams, irritability, abdominal cramps and dizziness. Melatonin facts also point to negative effects on the reproductive system as well as decreased sex drive in both men and women. Since melatonin is a hormone, it can affect many internal body processes. Melatonin facts show that those with depression might experience worsening symptoms. Others at a higher risk of developing melatonin side effects are people with liver disease, seizure disorders and high blood pressure." None of these are substantial nor are they proven. Side effects are reported to occur only in a minority of the tested trial subjects who have taken the pill every night for a period of 7 or more consecutive nights in a row. All in all it's a great drug for those finding it hard to sleep at night, or those with a heightened sense of adventure. Much better then pills that you may easily become dependent on such as Ambien. It's highly unusual for the American government to federally approve of any drug without rigorous testing, hence my immediate personal testing and backing of it. Works great, no noticeable side-effects. We'll see what happens when I sell my blood and semen on to those assholes from 'Lifesource' that keep calling me. Anyone that reports 'depression' was almost definitely depressed before they started taking the supplement. Then again, isn;t everybody? I've only used the drug twice. Two days in a row at doses of 9 and 15 miligrams respectively; I haven't experienced any side effects except for drowsiness (which is what it's known to cause) and perhaps an increase in physical sensitivity (in a good way, if ya get my drift.) You must remember that people experiencing negative side effects include 2% or less than the total users. Try not to tell me I'm wrong until you've actually researched it for yourself. From the same site as the quoted side-effects: "There are natural products on the market that contain melatonin in safe, recommended dosages along with other therapeutic nutrients that can enhance its effectiveness. One of the most promising is called Neuro Natural Sleep which has been shown to not only improve sleep and combat insomnia but also relieve stress and anxiety and help you relax. Neuro Natural Sleep contains a proprietary blend of specialized ingredients that can produce significant results in a relatively short period of time, as well as nutrients for general health and well-being." Personally, I would call it a miracle drug. Not because it does anything special (which it does), but because it doesn't really impact the body negatively. A lot of commercial drugs that relieve conditions such as asthma, diabetes, etc. do so with MAJOR side-effects; most of which include comas and death. So you can see where I'm coming from when I recommend this drug. And Pevans, babe, you know I wouldn't do ya wrong

DeadlyPinata 0 #12 Posted November 27, 2009 Rigormortis' post completely threw me off my chair. I didn't really understand it, but If you're trying to fall asleep, don't. Let it consume you into sleep on it's own. By trying too hard, we put ourselves at a greater loss, dont you think so?
Super Sean 1 #13 Posted November 28, 2009 Okay, rarely are people allergic to insulin. And hypoglycemia occurs if a diabetic either gets too much exercise or takes too much insulin. Hypoglycemia can also happen to normal people too, though very rarely and never to the extreme that diabetics get it. So, I wouldn't say that hypoglycemia is a side effect of insulin it's just doing it's job a little too well... I'm glad people are informed about Type 1, though. Most people just know Type 2 - and it's funny that it's like that because I know very little about Type 2. Well, not very little, just not as much as I should know, I suppose. Rigormortis 15 #14 Posted November 28, 2009 My case rests. Melatonin has very few side effects; even when compared to drugs that are designed to sustain life to their users. In fact the only side-effects, minus allergic reactions, * daytime sleepiness (expected) * Dizziness (sure) * Headaches (not really) * Abdominal discomfort (only to those with sensitive stomachs) * Confusion (huh?) * Sleepwalking (lol awesome) * Nightmares (How is this a side effect, nightmares are natural)
