Mana 3,867 #1 Posted December 15, 2009 The Lotus Clan index page now lists the total number of dead demomen and soldiers as killed within our servers from the time Valve started the War. (The numbers are automatically updated every hour.) As of the time this thread was created the current total was: Dead Demomen: 43681 Dead Soldiers: 46822 Which is a clear testament to how overpowered the demoman is, despite my efforts... sfeigjkh 0 #3 Posted August 7, 2012 The demoman is very effective, but he's also handicapped by the fact that the grenade launcher and sticky launcher are usually not very effective against fast moving targets. As for the numbers, do the totals actuallly reflect the number of soldiers killed by demos and vice versa? If not, then the numbers reflect the fact that soldier is a more popular class, and since more people play soldier, there would of course be more soldiers killed. This topic is nearly 3 years old - the numbers are (unsurprisingly) no longer accurate. To make this thread resurrection worthwhile, I ran the numbers for overall kills and deaths: Soldiers: 60,621,418 kills 50,526,528 deaths 1.1998 K/D ratio Demos: 54,828,913 kills 44,854,882 deaths 1.2223 K/D ratio

Willerms 1,794 #6 Posted August 7, 2012 What are you talking about? The grenade launcher and sticky launcher are AMAZING against fast moving targets. All you need is a little skill and timing.
+Cactus 4,948 #7 Posted August 7, 2012 Where did you find those numbers? Nice rundown. Grabbed them from the Teams/Roles section of the Stats site - you can also get info on weapon usage and actions (teleports, allies extinguished, etc) in other tabs. On these specific stats: No Crits: http://stats.lotuscl.../teamsroles/tf3 x24: http://stats.lotuscl.../teamsroles/tf2 x33: http://stats.lotuscl...m/teamsroles/tf Fun fact: Se7en has the most kills as soldier on x33 at 108,147 (64,744 with the Black Box) and the most deaths at 48,916, as well as 22,576 critical kills (#30) and 34,617 rocket jumps (#5).
Nano 7,892 #8 Posted August 7, 2012 Why demo is better than soldier. 1. Sticky jump further 2. I use it 3. Se7en is a soldier 4. It's a trap! 5. auto-det script. The real question is why are they consider Demo/Solly OP when this is the statistics for Heavy: Kills:30,895,691 Deaths: 21,471,902 1.44 K/D Ratio EDIT: I'm not #1, but I am in the top 50 for: spy, demo, and engie.

+Cactus 4,948 #10 Posted August 7, 2012 What I really can't understand is how Medic is the most-played class on all 3 server sets. Really? From what I normally see, it should be Sniper, Spy, and Engie. I never have to ask my team's 5th Medic to change classes...

Lotus East Coast 24/7 2fort x33, we have many times where there are at least 3-4 medics on a team. And people get peeved/
Possum 10,776 #14 Posted August 7, 2012 x33 server, 2 medics at the absolute minimum, 3 is ideal. The number of people who don't seem to understand that medics are not only useful, they are the possibly the most important class in the game.
Hawkear 97 #15 Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) The demoman is not any better than the soldier, In fact on a high tier basis soldier usually beats out demo. Demo has very specialized tactics and for that reason many people have a tough time killing them, one on one especially but a demo is best when fighting groups around corners. The one thing I see people fail in as a demo is not knowing when to sticky and when to have a fun and demoknight, I mean 5 sentries we need some sticky support more than just me...Other than that though yes the demoman is the best in my eyes but only if the best player plays him, and that man is not me, or anyone.=) Edited August 28, 2012 by Hawkear
