not a scope because its on the wrong side of the gun.

plus the side of the "scope thing" thats closer to the engie has a box and antenna coming out of it.

so its not a scope.

people where saying it might be a laser pointer of some sort

Maybe the engie is getting a new remote control gadget of something. Which is what the antenna is for? Portable sentry I doubt it but maybe something else movable.

There's been rumor of a wrench that builds faster, but can't upgrade. I know it sounds terrible, but they are also supposedly throwing around the idea of three lvl 1 sentries instead of up to 1 lvl 3 sentry. I could see that combination work out.

Laser guided sentry? What if it's a mortar? Maybe he uses the laser to direct his fire from over buildings and across levels? Would be nice for an engie to be able to leave his sentry someplace hidden and still be able to call fire down from somewhere.

Would be great but Valve will NOT put grenades into the game. Soldier players would be crying to Valve to be able to take those nades off their chest belt and toss'em.
