Slowdown

Hello everyone,

I'll cut to the chase, my game suffers from slowdown when things get busy. Burning buildings, lots of characters on screen, ect. Also, this SHOULDN'T be happening. I can play Company of Heroes, max settings and not get an ounce of slowdown, whatsoever. I really want to play this game again, but I really don't want to have to suffer through slowdown, especially now I'm above and beyond the requirements to play the game.

I have a Radeon x1900 512mb

AMD 64 3500+ at 2.21ghz

3gigs of RAM

Can anyone point in the right direction of fixing this problem? I have Battle Realms and Winter of the Wolf installed.

hmmm what kind of video card do you have? sometimes the best computer may slow down if the video card isnt up to date to play certain games....

Radeon x1900 with 512mb of memory. A very high-end video card.

Your Video Card setting might have some problem. It is impossible for BR still slowing down on your good computer.

Maybe your monitor sucks. Just kidding. WOTW slows BR down. I don't install it. I don't think WOTW adds anything useful to BR anyway, just a few low-end units and a couple goofy heros. I'd recommend uninstalling it. Do you have Battle Pack 1, 2, &3 installed on your computer for BR? That should help. Do you have the latest Windows XP Service Pack? It probably won't help, but maybe.

also it depends on how much free space there is...or maybe you have the game speed down to the lowest setting? i have a good computer and sometimes my computer will have slowdowns, especially being that there is a heavy dust buildup on the processor...

Actually, WOTW slow down your computer down (due to more memory needed) but makes your game speed runs faster.

Hey, I have the same problem with my computer.

All fire in the game slows down the game from around 100fps to 20fps.

I don't have the best computer (128 ATI RADEON 300 SE, with 521 RAM 3GH processor), but I can run Half-Life 2, Quake 4, and F.E.A.R. on my machine

, with very little slowdown (although I have to run F.E.A.R. on the lowest texture settings). I cant figure out why a 6 year old game cant work, but a 2 or less year old games work fine.

This is what I did:

The first thing I did was turn down my video settings to the lowest settings, that did nothing, my FPS's went up very little.

The next thing I did was try the integrated video card in my computer, and it worked!

I was amazed it worked, a crapy video card worked better than my "good" one.

Now here are my theories on what it is:

1. It is the video driver settings

2. Battle Realms cant run on RADEON cards properly.

Im still fiddling with the drivers (try using a program called ATI Tray Tools instead of the Catalyst drivers, it works better), I might be able to get it working yet.

Just out of interest how do you know what the FPS are when playing BR?

There is a setting on ATI Tray Tools that puts a FPS counter on screen.

i have to install wotw to play br online. with br only, i can't get into gamespy. any ideas of this problem?

You probably havn't patched it to 1.50q, and sine wotw is already upto date when you download it you have no problem. You can't play BR online without patching it.

please help me i love battlerealms, i have a perfect system for it, but it runs slow alot, same symptoms as described.

my rig:

AMD Athlon 3800+ X2 dual core

2 gigs ram

ATi Radeon x1600pro 512 Ram

Creative audigy 4 sound card

250 gigs hard drive

What operating system are you using? You gotta remember that Battle Realms was released over six years ago now, so the latest technology may have problems running it.

im on xp home service pack 2, ive tried on professional but no luck...

its anoying because i love this game and bought the pack for £20 when i got it..

I think it's your graphics card.. Sorry I can't help much.
