Reptilian 1 #1 Posted March 15, 2012 Hello, a few days ago i was banned by an admin for calling the rest of the server noobs, being rude and supposedly making threats. I apologize for my misconduct, and to the admin in question for calling him a noob. I wasn't being serious and several players who were on the server at the time can testify to what we think is a grossly disproportionate punishment, for just a trivial exchange between an irritated player ( I had been vote-kicked for being afk, when i wasn't...) and a server full of noobs. Please forgive my foolish lack of judgement, I really enjoy playing on your servers, in fact its the only server i play on... You then kept coming back making threats to "shut down the server".I then kicked you several times. Thinking if I kicked you that you would get the hint and cool off...wrong. I could care less what you had to say to me in-game by calling me a noob. I warned you several times you just kept coming back and making threats. Having players being votekicked and votebanned repeatedly can get tedious. I'd gather evidence and ban you for about 3 days, just so you'd get the hint. However, each to their own. bukowski 1,203 #19 Posted March 15, 2012 Perma-banning for someone's first infraction (of mouth running and raging) is setting a bad precedent for the Lotus Servers and once you start going down a path of diminshing leniency it sometimes turns into a death spiral. You have to take into account that we all have bad days, which can quickly turn our normally positive gameplay into a ragefest - as it seems to have done it reptilians case. Also, it seems that Death Strike may have allowed a case of mistaken identiy (thinking reptilian is the player named morrison) play part in his decision to permaban, since Lotus Servers have had previous troubles with the player morrison crashing the server or so Death Strike told me through chat. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble, so I'll end it soon. Reptilian came here and apologized (as best he could for a young roughian), which shows he saw the fault in his actions that day on the server and that should count for something... There are plenty of other places for him to go if he wants to fuck around above and beyond what most do. Playing on Lotus is a privilege, not a right. They can and should do whatever they want to restrict those individuals who detract from the gameplay experience of others in an extreme manner. He was warned multiple times. No action was ever taken against the server... let the kid have a bad day. You guys are too serious. I'll have to remember to post to this forum the next time someone threatens to murder or rape me in-game... I'll want IPs and logs, and your servers will probably get confiscated as evidence, so I can file a police report because I'm now aware how serious every chat statement is. Lotus won't be the same anymore. I respect death strike for his impressive items collection and for killing snipers on battlement with his candy bar, but clearly his decision was based on emotions and I'm pretty sure he regrets what he did. But the sad part of this story is he can't undo it, because he is afraid of being wrong and losing his honour.
