So i am not 100% sure of what donors are allowed to do by using their powers without falling in the red zone of abusing their powers.

I am a new donor, i have only used my powers once and it was to votekick someone who was spamming ni**er, although i believe he should have been penalized further and harsher as i am strongly against harassment of any kind i wasn't sure if you're allowed to voteban before you votekick.

With that being said i suggest that donors have to votekick players before skipping to voteban, as a player and a donor i do not want to abuse my powers, nor do i want to be abused without punishment of the abusing player. I'm sure every regular player and donor alike will agree they do not want to be banned, and 90% of the time a kick will suffice and they will realize what they're doing wrong. I have been donor abused before, (I will not say his name but he is very well known in the 2fort server, he votebanned me for dominating him) I believe that with a proper logging system which i assume Lotus has, then admins can easily review donor commands given via STEAMID if someone is accused of votebanning someone else without proper reason that player should be penalized.

tldr : Make donors have to votekick players before votebanning them, if someone feels they're abused then admins can easily check and see if someone did infact abuse their donor privileges.

This whole idea revolves around whether or not Lotus has a chat log, or command logging system which i am new to these forums so i haven't the slightest clue.

If you're paying to play a server (donor), then you would obviously want a good experience; if you have some trash who is mic spamming, hacking or botting, you won't get that experience. So as a donor, you are trusted with extra privileges to try and keep your experience good in the form of instant votes rather than waiting for 3-5 people to also want the same as you do. For a typical spammer, a votekick would be sufficient if it was actually disrupting your game play, do not forget Lotus promotes free speech. If they are hacking or botting, and you have proof via demo (images are No good!!!) then feel free to voteban and post a demo here in the ban section. In more extreme cases of harassment or disruptive gameplay, feel free to voteban too, but make sure it's what majority of the server want and it feels right.

I have a load of administration experience from the past, and my general attitude towards it is that yea obviously if someone is hacking then they should be just gone completely, chances are it's a FTP player and the only reason they're playing is to ruin other peoples experience with the game.

But onto smaller things, if someone is mic spamming a kick should suffice. But i have seen countless times donors just voteban people as if the kick isn't even a function.

I think the player would have learned his lesson from being kicked, and if not then you can ban them.

Call it me having the feeling of allowing others a second chance.

Edit: About the votekick i did, i fully feel that i was justified with it. Spamming racist and harassment slurs to other people, not only shouldn't be acceptable but in my eyes brings a bad image of what is and isn't allowed on the Lotus servers. Free speech is one thing, spamming the chatbox with racist remarks with no meaning other than to make others feel hurt is unacceptable. Correct me if i am wrong, but i would not want to see people running around the servers saying whatever they please no matter how offensive it may be.

The only thing I would add to this is to mention that votebans are not permanent. So you can use them without long term consequences.

also, kick if they're spamming the chat with trade. like "s>243523423412 buds for 235204u12038u1 ref and selng entired beepee for 3three sc4p a weppro" Shit like that. I know letters are not numbers, but many don't. kicking for things like that are completely understandable

Lol, I tend to do this now and them, but when I get people who can't 'speakeh teh english', Votemute works.

As for the donator privileges, use good judgement when making the call, while again I mentioned earlier case by case, you can't just be 'modding' the server and punting these people out, if there's direct abuse or such, just make a demo and get rid of them permanently. Unless you're kicking/banning/gagging/raping for the wrong, false reasons, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

If there is a good reason to voteban someone I would start the vote without hesitation. If he's ruining players experiences, the vote will go through. It needs 80% (I'm pretty sure), so the other players actually decide. If it fails it fails.

If there is someone who comes to a certain server over and over spamming, take a demo and post in the ban section.

I really don't think any staff members will ever think you will abuse your power since you made such a concerned and thoughtful thread.

I'm not really worried about me making bad decisions, but rather players (or even donors) who don't know any better or how to report them being abused by other donors.
