Mana 3,867 #1 Posted May 11, 2012 As some of you may have noticed already I had a name with a number of different colors after Valve's update added this functinality. Now I've done enough testing to allow all other admins and donors to use part of this functionality. Default color is gold, because that's how valuable you all are . You can change the color by typing namecolor in chat or by using the command lotus_setmynamecolor followed by a hex code. Name Color - Lets you change your name color in the main chat You can pick the predefined colors from the donator menu Or type "lotus_setmynamecolor hexcode " in console for any custom color. Example: lotus_setmynamecolor 22ff33 would do green. Click here for a HEX color wheel to choose a custom color. Most likely this name color will only be changed in main chat and not team chat, to prevent conclusion. But at the moment it's changed everywhere. Upcoming features: Admins will likely be able to set their chat color as well.

Gotcha 6,307 #3 Posted May 11, 2012 Like I said. I highly disapprove of this, now it's impossible to tell donors and admins apart.
Mana 3,867 #4 Posted May 11, 2012 Like I said. I highly disapprove of this, now it's impossible to tell donors and admins apart. No one could tell them apart before either. Everyone just assumed green meant admin. Letting admins choose their chat color as well would lead us back to that same issue as before where pretty much no one knew what it stood for. This is why we should probably add prefixes to the name. Like [VIP] [MOD] [D] or [A] or whatever.

Maybe you could disable part of the color wheel. oh, I posted before I saw Mana's reply. Nevermind.

Mana 3,867 #7 Posted May 11, 2012 That's nice. Anyone knows the HEX code for default username colour? Thanks in advance. What's wrong with the default one in the menu?

Mana 3,867 #12 Posted May 11, 2012 I didn't say there was anything wrong with the current colour of my chat nickname, but I would change it to default if I could/knew how. I would avoid being called retard/stupid/fag/dumb for the sole reason that I donate for supporting Lotus servers. Well how does this change anything compared to how it was before? Except now you can choose the default color. Which is what non-donors/admins have...

Gotcha 6,307 #16 Posted May 11, 2012 Mana, I'm not arguing with you over this, I think it's a nice addition to the ever expanding list of your servers features. I was just asking if with the new system I or any other admin/donor would be able to change their chat nickname to default colour and what the HEX code is for it. If this was possible before the latest changes you made, I wasn't aware. I would like this so people would have one less reason to rage at me. Sorry for any trouble/confusion I might have caused, I'm slightly stupid. Thanks. namecolor -> default

Gotcha 6,307 #18 Posted May 12, 2012 why do you want to tell them apart? Because donors are not admins.
Shiny Charizard 451 #19 Posted May 12, 2012 why do you want to tell them apart? 1. Donors posing as admins. 2. Admins being assumed to be donors and getting sass. 3. No one sure who to report problems to. New players don't need confusion. Pick one. They all work. I do like the title idea though. New people may be less confused and stay longer. Meaning you get blue and red depending on your team. We did not have this before. Or do you mean default as in the old green?

Gotcha 6,307 #22 Posted May 12, 2012 Until we get those prefixes, we'll now look like a circus of donors and admins with every kind of colored name. I doubt anyone will even take us serious. I don't really understand what the problem is in just leaving donors in the green they are, how they always been and how people recognize them, and giving admins, which were always difficult to tell apart or identify, a different color like red or yellow (and maybe a prefix (MOD/Admin). Easy adaption. Giving everyone a custom color is just making it complicated and more confusing than it has to be.

Shiny Charizard 451 #25 Posted May 12, 2012 Right now we have the same issue as always. Everyone thinks donors are admins. This doesn't change things one bit. Make us have a prefix for our title. If people copy it they get a temp ban each time they connect with a popup explaination. Sounds solid unless I'm forgetting something. I'm worried about users using hard to see names and abusing privileges.
