Alright, so here's the story. me and a bunch of people from lotus were having some fun all class rounds for shits and giggles. then this spy comes on using the C&D. everyone round, he was the last one alive, and me and the server got sick of it. so the server votekicked him a few times, then a voteban, so he knew what he was doing. i know how to add a reason, so i did because he was annoying all of us.whether we were going all the same class or not, C&D camp is kick/banworthy

i do not have donator powers, so it wasnt donator abuse. i do not understand how i can "votekick abuse" if the whole server agree's with me everytime. this spy was campingg it out. we kicked him a few times, then banned. nothing wrong with that. i was only the one putting a reason. everyone else was on my side.

i dont play tf2 without lotus. its like my home there. i dont need to get banned for some random complaining.

how can you abuse the votekick/ban when we can barely kick people for wasting time also its hardly abuse when you need so many votes depending on how many people there are at the time and 60% of the people to kick and 80% to ban this hardly ever happens let alone it being abused

I haven't seen anything in your explanation that really explains kicking someone for being a "fucking faggot". You also admitted that you initiated solely because he wasn't following made up rules you wanted everyone to follow.

The ban is temporary. I see no reason to change it unless you could prove your claim he was trolling people.

he was votekick multiple times before that for the C&D camping. he knew what the problem was. i was just extremely annoyed by it, so i put that reason. it seems the whole server agree'd with me to make a ban. its 80% ya know. takes alot of people

the.kinggeorge has been playing on this server for nearly 5 years now. Usually the regulars on Lotus kick each other for shits and giggles sometimes, and it's something we've all been used to. In this case, however... It appears as if a genuine vote to remove this spy was enacted by the server. (The entire server.)

Despite the whole "all class rounds" that's not what he was kicked for. He was kicked for wasting people's time via Cloak and Dagger. Now, using the C&D in itself is not an offense. I honestly do believe that the spy was attempting to play... and wasn't like that other asshole I reported last time. I don't believe the user that was votekicked was trolling. However, the server appears to have asked him to stop wasting so much time each round, and he didn't listen.

It wasn't the.kinggeorge who souly initiated the vote. He's just the one who put a reason, usually meaning he was the LAST ONE to vote to kick this guy. (If you're not a donator, the only way you can put a votekick reason is if you're the last person to vote, and you type a reason after it.)

I'd like to point out, that in times of even serious votekicks... Most of the time the votes NEVER go through. Votekicks never go through, and Votebans never go through. On "joke kicks" against the server regulars who are used to votes popping up every once and awhile, they absolutely never go through.

Keep in mind, the.kinggeorge isn't a donator a the moment. He didn't abuse anything. He put up a vote just like every other person did. He pressed "1" like the rest of the server did.

Where are the temp bans on the users who voted "Yes?"

LotusClan | Arena! | Chicago (x33) has been home to many goofballs. Most of the people there understand the type of humor that goes on, and what is acceptable as playing the game seriously, or playing the game and being useless.

In this case, it appears as if the spy was being useless, and the player had enough with him, and were trying to get rid of him.

I think temp banning the.kinggeorge, or anyone for that matter (unless they're abusing donator) for putting out a regular votekick on a player the SERVER thought was disruptive, is just ridiculous.

So what if that spy got kicked? It was the consensus of the server at the time, and that's what the votekick feature is for. It's a community based moderation put in place. If the user comes back and does the same thing over again for what he got kicked for, then everyone has the right to kick him again for it.

I don't believe the spy who got kinggeorge banned should have had ANY right to complain, because he was the one pissing off the server... not the other way around. The server wasn't harassing him, the server was ANNOYED with him, thus, they used the features available to them in-game.

It's not too hard to figure out.

I think the only reason why people are complaining recently is because somehow, and I seriously mean SOMEHOW we're getting an influx of new users to LotusClan's Arena server.

Which frankly, is REALLY COOL. But then it sucks, when they all come in, and they don't quite understand what's going on when people are calling them faggots in jest.. Thus, they think there's some sort of "ABUSE" and "HARASSMENT" going on, as if anyone is being serious... And they end up bitching on the forums.

I don't want new people to be unhappy... but frankly put... We barely have ANY problems on the Arena server when it comes to people dicking around, or self-moderation. We handle it rather well. The only people who get mad are the ones who end up on the other end of the stick when they get votekicked in a fashion that votekick was meant for, and then they come crying here.

No, he said he was kicking him, along with the rest of the server that was kicking him for wasting their time / being disruptive. Which is what the votekick feature is for.

It doesn't matter if "YOUR MOMS A FUCKING NIGGER" is the reason, the server voted to remove him, and obviously had an issue with him.

I can see why the person who complained might be a little confused, because it's RARE to actually be able to put a reason. Usually when you get a chance to, a person inserts something funny in there.

The reason for the TEMP ban, not even a real ban but a TEMP ban, is he used 'Fucking Faggot' as a reason. I feel like I'm yelling at a wall.

If he said anything else it would have been fine I imagine. BUT, the reason, was 'Fucking Faggot'. Not once did anyone complain the guy was kicked, but using 'Fucking Faggot' isn't a valid reason for anything.

Well Kinggeorge, it looks like you're the first witch on the stake for "toning things down a bit" for Arena.

I'll spread the word for people to tone down the behavior. It used to be that the server was played by a select group of people who knew each other quite well, but a bunch of new people are coming in, and the server is BOOMING. (Compared to that point in time where we had to beg Mana to put the server back up from being a 24/7 KOTH map.)

I'll try to spread the word around about toning some of the behavior down.

On behalf of the entire server regulars, I want to apologize for the complaints Charizard.

Well, here's the thing. We're not THAT bad. We usually keep the douchebaggery part to ourselves. (Ourselves being the server regulars)

For example, I'll kill someone, and they'll immediately motion a vote to kick me. We both laugh, and it's fine, because we know he doesn't honestly want me gone, but because it's funny that he motioned for a kick just because I "killed him."

Actually, the server regulars are rather nice to newcomers. A couple of the people who used to be major problems actually don't play anymore. We've had an influx of new people to the point where it's no longer my entire friends list, but teams of people I don't even know.

In those cases, most of the server is actually nice to the newcomers. I've actually had quite a few people look into donating recently because they liked playing with us.

However, what I mean by douchebaggery that might scare off newcomers.. Is the "regulars" being dicks to each other... and the other people going, "Oh no! stop with saying faggot! Watch your language!"

I'm not sure how many ways I can say this, maybe 3rd time is the charm.

The temp ban was for initiating a kick on someone from the server when they weren't doing anything wrong. I can't put it any simpler. The fact you used the term "fucking faggot" just supports the fact that you had no real reason for the boot. The language itself wasn't my particular reason (although another admin could certainly jump on that if they felt it was inappropriate).

Last call for any comments actually related to this particular ban and not just your general discontent at our decision making process for temp banning one of your friends.

(If we wait much longer the ban will already have expired...)

So,if i got this right,you guys had a little party on that server and you votekicked or votebanned everyone who didn`t play by your made up rules? Well,as long as a player plays folowing the rules of the game,doesn`t hack,cheat,exploit,chat spam,mic spam and uses an appropriate language,I don´t see a good reason to initiate a votekick or a voteban against him.On the server where I play regularly we have many players who decide to camp for the entire game(usually demomans with stickys),Annoying? There is nothing wrong with C&D camping. Yes it may be a little annoying, but at the end of the day, they have done nothing wrong. Learn to spycheck better.

If you really do feel the need to kick/ban, at least put a genuine reason. Calling someone a "fucking faggot" is NOT a reason. It is just plain offensive, and is grounds for you to be kicked/banned regardless of context
