Random Crits

Yup, so there's a lot of complaints about random crits in the arena server.

So I suggest if you could possibly turn random crits off from the server?

It's pissing people off, including myself.

I feel disgusted when I kill someone with a crit.

But I'd like to see if you could make it happen.

For some reason I thought Arena was nocrit already? Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but if it was nocrit before it might have just reset during one of the updates.

This has been discussed many times. We had 2 arena servers carbon copies of each other, except one was no crits. That server died long long ago (back when Arena was far more popular).

Indeed. Besides being plain fun, the game is balanced around crits and nowhere is this more noticable than in a balanced arena environment. When I feel like playing medic (although rare these days) I actively avoid non-crit arena servers if I can find an alternative with crits enabled. This is how I found the Lotusclan arena server in the first place.

What I don't get is why people are so hung up on those infrequent random crits (maybe because they're flashy?) and ignore the mind-boggling random damage spread that makes every single attack you make and receive a roll of the dice. Which I'm pretty sure is enabled (or better said, not disabled) on lotusclan arena.

Every one of those beatings is doing a randomly different amount of damage. That's just cruel.

Well, the more damage you do, the more likely you are to get a crit. Which means, the better you are the more you crit. Better players will always beat others, unless they get lucky and get crits as well. I've thought a lot about random crits and they seem pretty balanced. Won't matter who gets random crits, if you're on the better team, you will win...

Or if you are like me, you get crits when rocket jumping but not when you bomb in on 2 heavies and 2 medics.

The damage you take increases the chance of geting crits.So more damage taken,more crit spam.

And what kind of imagination created this comment?

Is there a base of facts for that, or is it only hearsay?

It really seems like it. But then again us top Lotus soldiers are pretty darn good and fight the long battles.

Standard weapons have a 2% base chance to crit, while melee weapons have a 15% chance.[1] An additional bonus percentage is added based on the total damage done by the player in the last 20 seconds, which scales from 0% at 0 damage to 10% at 800 damage.[1] For example: dealing 200 damage in the past 20 seconds, the additional bonus percentage is 2.5%.

Yea it goes by damage done, not taken. If that were the case, I know some people that would have a very high crit chance. biggrin.png

Medics also get an increased chance to crit. I'd always assumed the medic crit chance got upped based on their amount of healing done, recently I read it's based on the amount of damage dealt by the medic's medigun targets, but the net effect is the same. Medics crit a lot, and taking that away from them is a straight nerf (in arena, at least)
