Votebanning Trolls

I really enjoy the lotus clan servers, but this morning me & my friend both got votebanned for nothing. This one inexperienced player kept accusing us of aimbotting when all we were doing was playing as heavies on the cart. The server was Hightower New Jersey.

As you can see from his steam profile: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198014812237 he has less than 150hrs of playtime total. He was accusing almost half the server of cheating but focused his votes on me & my friend. I wouldn't be surprised if he started votebanning everyone else after we left.

I'm ranked 17th overall on the lotus servers as of this post: http://stats.lotusclan.com/hlstats.php?mode=playerinfo&player=10712 and it really irritates me when inexperienced players accuse me of cheating. If I were cheating, how could I achieve such a high rank without being permanently banned?

Why is vote banning even enabled? I know it's a temporary ban but it's open to SO much abuse.

With out screen shots or a demo, there's not alot to be said, there's no evidence that he vote banned you, the only chat log available doesn't show he even started a voteban.

I don't think the new stats parse "votekick" and "voteban" commands (and similar) correctly. I'd advise recording a demo next time. Voteban requires an 80% majority, so unless there were only 3 people on the server, you must've done something to piss off the rest of the players.

Also, there is a more suitable place for ban requests here.

Don't votebans only last 30 minutes or until the map changes?

As for the majority voting to ban you, weapon switching also uses the 1, 2, 3 buttons. Which can make it a bit tedious for voting when you are fighting and causes mixed results. And I doubt most people know about the !revote command.

I play on the 24/7 Hightower a lot (don't judge me) and there's always some jackass trying to voteban another player for something (Gunslinger Engie gets quite a bit of hate). I'm pretty sure that half the chat logs for that server are people complaining about anyone playing the objective or playing competently (i.e. dominating people that play troll loadouts). If I go on a killing streak or can lead that final cap in back to back rounds (both fairly easy to do as Heavy on that map), I get a voteban started against me. This happens once or twice a week pretty regularly. However, a ban has yet to go through so I'm shocked it worked on not only you but another person.

If you feel like playing Hightower just join the 24/7 and we can split the ban votes so neither of us get kicked :-D
